SAIL, HILDE, R.
Hilde R. Sail, age 89 of Trumbull, CT., passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY. Hilde was born in Suhl, Germany, and was the daughter of the late Martin and Paula (Sander) Rehbock and the sister of the late Herbert Rehbock. Hilde came to this country with her family when she was age 13 to escape the oppression of Nazi Germany. At the time she didn't speak a word of English and 7 years later she not only had graduated high school, but also the Cincinnati School of Nursing with her R.N. She served as a nurse during WWII. After raising three children she returned to her career as a critical care nurse. A strong and determined person, who relished in telling stories of the past, Hilde had a passion for traveling and loved to crochet baby sweaters, scarves and blankets, many of which she donated to various charities. Hilde was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Arnold Henry Sail and is survived by her devoted children, Michael Sail and his wife Ann of Guilderland, NY., Ronald Sail and his wife Suzanne of Niskayuna, NY., Leslie A. Lincoln and her husband Stephen of Stamford, CT., her adored grandchildren; Leah Pope and her husband Thomas, Adam Sail and his wife Siobhan, Allison Wik and her husband Steven, Becky, and Andrew Sail, Kevin, Timothy, and Quinn Lincoln, and by her cherished great-granddaughter, Olivia Pope. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 1:00 PM at The Abraham L. Green & Son Funeral Home, followed by a private burial service at Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport, CT. Memorial contributions may be made to the United States Holocaust Museum.
