DANTAS-TEIXEIRA Isabel Dantas-Teixeira (Liz), beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, godmother and trusted friend, from Monroe died peacefully after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She spent the last days of her life in "her second home, St. Vincent's Medical Center", surrounded by her loving family, friends, colleagues and her parish priest, Rev. "Skip" Karcsinski, from St. Jude Church, by her side on Thursday, June 30, 2005. She was born in Arcos de Valdvez, Minho, Portugal, on October 12,1960. She was the loving wife of Americo Teixeira; devoted mother of her son, Andrew-Miles Teixeira and her daughter, Mikaelah Serena Teixeira. She was the beloved daughter of Jose and Estefania Dantas, of Monroe; and beloved granddaughter of Lucinda Cequeira Dantas, also of Monroe. She was survived by her caring sister, Lucia DeAndrade and husband, Ted; her goddaughter-niece, Charlene DeAndrade; and nephew, Jonathan DeAndrade. Also left to cherish her memory are her mother-in- law, Teresa Teixeira; her godmother, Aurora Pedreira and husband, Manuel, of N.J. Her uncle, Antonio Barreira and wife, Teresa, of Trumbull; her aunts, Maria Dantas and Angelina Pereira, both of Bridgeport. Also her loving cousins, Grace and Sofia Pires, of Trumbull, Lucinda Lima and Sandra Teixeira, of N.J., Jose Manuel Pereira, of Monroe, Jose Barreira, Maria Guadagno, Charlie Dantas and Grace Dias, of Bridgeport, Ragina and Mark Barreira, of Trumbull, Sameira Abreu, of Toronto, Canada, and Grace Cerqueira, of Portugal; and last her trusted and devoted friend, Diane Sheehan, of Trumbull. Isabel was a graduate of St. Vincent School of Nursing where she received the Ann Pasquerello award, Sacred Heart University where she received her bachelor's degree in nursing, graduated Sigma Delta Tahau and belonged to the National Honor Society. She was employed by St. Vincent Medical Center for 24 years where she worked as a PACU nurse and as a case manager for the open heart patients. At St. Vincent-s, she received the Distinguished Nursing Award and the Values Recognition Award for her service. Her passion and devotion to all the patients she cared for clearly touched everyone. She nurtured and encouraged her patients to recovery. Isabel was also a parish nurse for St. Jude parish. St. Vincent-s was as she called it "My La Familia". Isabel was an exceptionally superb cook and she loved to cook for her family and friends. She also loved to travel, but in recent years came to adore the seashore of Cape Cod. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Dantos, Lucy and family,

I was deeply saddened with the news of the passing of your daughter/sister. I would like to extend my deepest sympathy during this difficult time. Liz was a special person -- and yes the tattoo on my chest with her name over my heart is still there! She was a wonderful person with a loving family -- and I'm thankful God gave her to us to know and admire. I know you were proud of her, and she was clearly an ambitious and intelligent women -- and God has chosen to call her home. Please find comfort knowing that she was loved by many, and that we will keep you all in our thoughts and prayers. May God bless you during this difficult time.

Love,

Manny Marguy

To The Dantas-Teixeira Family:

I had recently heard that Liz had been ill. I remember the days many years ago when Liz, Lucy and their family lived on Coleman Street and we would go to my cousin Adelaide and Val Esteves pool and sit in the sun. I always remember the beautiful blonde hair and that gentle smile. That gentle smile and voice was to comfort me at St. Vincent's when my husband Domingos had brain surgery after a fall at work. Liz was in the recovery room with him and helped me face a very bad time in my life. I will never forget her for that. Unfortunately, I was away at a teachers' conference in California when Liz went to heaven. Please accept my deepest condolences at this time. Liz will always be remembered in my thoughts and in my prayers.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Dantos, Lucy and family:

Words can never express the sudden loss of a loved one. I remember Isabel from Bassick High School. I always knew she was going to be a RN along with Lucy. Isabel and I took a Nurses Aide course in high school in Mrs. Curiale's class. She was always a smart student and excelled in everything. I always admired her great personality, her beautiful looks, especially her beautiful long blonde hair! I ran into Isabel about 7 years ago when she came to work briefly at United Visiting nurses, she did some on-call nursing for us. I... at that time, worked in the payroll dept. When she walked thru the doors, I knew who she was immediately, and sat with her and caught up on things. I now work for the CT State Police in Bridgeport. We as humans, never know when our last day on earth will be, and we will never know why our lord takes our loved ones from us especially at such a young age, but in my heart, I know the Lord had other plans for Isabel. We are only here on earth for a short while, thats why we are told to live our lives everyday like its our last. And I know Isabel lived her life each day to the fullest. She was one wonderful nurse, and everyone who's life she touched has been blessed. And I am for sure blessed for having known her. My deepest condolences and prayers go out to your whole family, until we meet again with Isabel, God bless us all and keep us safe. Nancy Martin

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Dantas & Lucy,

My heart has stopped with news of Isabel. I had no idea she was even sick. As many times as I have been in and out of St. Vincent's with my elderly parents, I never had the luck of running into her when she was well. Isabel and I were very good friends all through middle school and we had a ball. We both just loved to lay in the sun all day long. I used to laugh at her when she would make her own sun tanning lotion concoction but the laugh was on me when she got the better tan. When we were young teens, we both got a little part-time job working together at an old handbag factory in Bpt. where it was all laughs and hardly any work. It was one of the happiest times of my life. Unfortunately, we grew apart shortly after that but I never forgot her or her family. She must of been a blessing in everyone's life because I was blessed to have known her in mine. I will always have our wonderful memories and she will live in my heart forever. I pray that Jesus Christ our Lord gives her family the strength to carry on with out her... until we all meet again. God Bless her and may the Lord be with all of you. She was the best Lucy.
