Jack McCarthy Obituary
Jack McCarthy – sunrise 11.25.41, sunset 7.29.18.
Jack was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport and later in life Lordship, Fort Myers, FL and St. Maarten. Jack was the senior class president of the first class to graduate from Notre Dame High School. Jack graduated from Seton Hall and then served in the US Army from 1967-1968 as a 2nd Lieutenant in South East Asia. After his military service Jack obtained his Masters from USC and later in life obtained a Master's in Public Health from Southern University.
Jack was an avid sailor, member of Fayerweather and Milford Yack Clubs and the Gaelic American Club.
Jack was a Justice of the Peace and enjoyed joining people for life.
Jack was a dedicated public servant, Administrator of Humane Affairs and Health of Social Services for the City of Bridgeport. An official in the establishment of the Connecticut Resource Recovery Authority, with later became the Bridgeport Regional Trash to Energy Burn Plant.
Jack dedicated decades of his life to community service, including Chairman of the Board of Bridgeport's Police Activity League (PAL).
As a lifelong devoted Catholic and a member of St. Ann's Church, Our Lady of Peace, St. Columbkille and Our Lady of the Sea.
Jack was a devoted son, fiancée, godfather, favorite "uncle" and friend to all those who knew him. Jack was pre-deceased by his parents – the Irish Queen Flossie and Irish King John McCarthy.
Jack is survived by his fiancée Linda Bogos, cousins Roberta and Jeff Yegidis of Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey and Fort Myers, FL, their son and godson Michael Jones of Milford, CT, "nieces" Betsy Goldemen of Washington, DC and Emily Wells of Houston, Texas.
Calling hours will be at Larson's Funeral Home in Bridgeport, on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00, with a funeral mass at Lady of Peace Church in Stratford, with internment immediately following at St. Michael's Cemetery in Stratford, CT.

Dear Linda,
We miss seeing you and Jack at Our Lady of Peace since we moved. Not only was the family an inspiration in the Irish community but also the Lithuanian community in the South End of Bridgeport. Florence and my mother Helen Baranowski were lifetime friends continuing with gatherings at our home in Lordship. Wishing you peace in the joyful and sprit-filled memories that touched so many.

Linda, only today (Aug 6) did I learn of Jack's passing. I am still in shock !! I'm so happy that he and I remained in close friendship all these many years after high school graduation. I will offer mass for him tomorrow morning. Also praying for you during this difficult time.

Dear Jack, An amazing life, awesome accomplishments that you have achieved. You leave us in times of tears, sadness, and loneliness. Thank you for your laughter, your beautiful smile, your great sense of humor. Will remember the great memories of all you shared and achieved. God sent you to us as a great gift and now God took you, as he needs you. You will be missed by all. RIP Jack! You will remain in our heart forever.
