James Schiappa Obituary

Schiappa, James L.
James "Jay" Schiappa, age 78, of Stratford, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 28, 2013 in Bridgeport Hospital. Born on November 13, 1934, he was a son of the late Americo and Grace Gallucci Schiappa. Jay was raised in Bridgeport where he attended the Bridgeport Schools before leaving to work to help support his family. Jay was married to his beloved wife Emily for 54 years until her death. He is survived by two children Susan Novak and her husband Steven of Seymour and Michael Schiappa and his wife Donna of Stratford, five grandchildren, Steven and Jake Novak of Seymour and James Schiappa III of Florida, Alyssa and Halea Schiappa of Stratford, a sister, Henrietta Dellaca of Stratford along with several nieces and nephews. Jay along with his wife was pre-deceased by his son, James Schiappa Jr. and brothers, Joseph, Michael and Anthony Schiappa. Jay resided in Stratford for many years until his death. He worked as a truck driver/rigger his whole life at Lawrence Transport, Hallamore Co., Meyer Rigging and Avco Lycoming until his retirement. In his retirement, Jay enjoyed the casinos with his wife and gardening, he tended to his daughter's garden this year and it was the best it ever was. Jay enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He will mostly be remembered as the most passive, peaceful man you could ever meet and never could say a bad word about anyone.
