James Shay Obituary

Shay, James
James Christopher "Pooh Bear" Shay, age 54 of Fairfield, died Saturday, April 5, 2014. Born in Bridgeport in 1960, James was a lifelong Fairfield resident. He was a graduate of Andrew Warde High School, Class of 1979. Jim worked in his family business H. K. Shay Construction for many years. He loved fishing, his dump druck and most especially his beloved dog Ginger.
Jim had a great sense of humor and was loved and will be missed by all his friends. Survivors include his mother, Barbara McQuillan Shay of Fairfield.,
brothers Kevin Shay and his wife Leslie and Herbert "Chip" Shay., sisters Deborah and her husband Robert "Duke" Sherwood of Fairfield and Cindy Kozlowski and her companion Thomas Stockell of Stratford. Neices and nephews Tayra Shay, Jason and Tara Shay, Christopher and Julie Sherwood, Megan Kozlowski, Emily Shay and great niece and nephew Brandon and Kayla Shay. He was pre-deceased by his father Herbert "Skip" Shay and sister Kimberly Shay. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 10:00AM meeting DIRECTLY at St. Pius X Church, Fairfield, with interment to follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 4-8 PM in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd. Fairfield, Ct. 06824. Donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 455 Post Rd., Westport, CT 06880. (203) 227-4137

So deeply sorry to hear the saddened news that Pooh has passed on to a new life. I feel blessed by the friendship that he and I shared in our younger years and the memories of the gentle soul of the Man that he was! I am so very sorry to hear about Jimmy's passing. We always chatted about the weather and sports almost every day when I walked around the block. He was a kind soul who is in a much better place. Please know that he is in our thoughts and prayers.
