Jesse C. Von Griebel

1965 - 2013

Jesse C. Von Griebel, 48, of Stafford Springs, passed away December 14, 2013. Son of the late Ray L.Griebel, Jess was born on January 1, the first baby to be born in Connecticut in 1965. He resided in several towns, before settling in the hills of Stafford. JVG, as he was often known, was a talented singer and guitarist, playing in numerous local bands over a span of nearly 30 years. He was a devout member of Saint Edward's Church. Jesse was proud to have earned two Black Belts in Tae Kwon Do. At the time of his passing, he was employed by Big Y Supermarket, where he enjoyed the company of many loyal customers and jovial co-workers. Jess loved Jesus, his mother, his children, The Beatles, Batman, Bruce Lee, graphic novels, MMA, his '98 Ford Expedition, his "Bud" M.J.,and, albeit begrudgingly, his wife Patty. He is survived by his loving mother, Edith (Coward) Lucier of Manchester; sister Elizabeth (Smith) Graham of Manchester; brother Frank Smith of St Augustine, FL; three treasured children, daughter Alasia L.Griebel and son Jesse W. Griebel of Bristol, and daughter Aria Von Griebel of Stafford; wife of 15 years, Patty (McQuaid) Von Griebel of Stafford; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be held February 15, 2014, 10am, at Saint Edward's Church, 59 High Street, Stafford Springs, CT.
