John Koons Obituary
John (Jack) Koons, age 82, of Bridgeport, died Friday May 26, 2017 at St. Vincent's Medical center in Bridgeport. Mr. Koons was born in Hazelton, PA and was an area resident most of his life. He was a retired employee for Textron Lycoming Company. He was a US Army Veteran. He was a graduate of Bassick High School and the University of Connecticut. He was a longtime and active member of St. Augustine's Cathedral Parish, he also was a member of the Port 5. He is survived by his wife Beth Gillern Koons, a daughter Mary Beth Hearn and her husband Timothy ,of Scottsdale, AZ. A daughter-in-law Diane Gorylo, Milwaukee. Four grandchildren; Christian Koons, Rachel, Ryan and Carlin Hearn, and two step-grandchildren Kyle and Jesse Goryl. He was predeceased by his son Steven Koons. Friends are invited to attend his Funeral on Wednesday at 10:30 am At St. Augustine's Cathedral for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be Private. Friends may call on Tuesday at the Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Ave, Bridgeport, from 4 to 7 PM. To light a candle or leave a message of condolence go to www.larsonfh.com

Dear Family and Friends,
We have lost a good man. Jack was one-of-a-kind..a generous and caring person. He served as our class president in both our Junior and Senior years at Bassick High School during 1950-52. He has been my classmate and friend since then. He was the glue that has kept all our alumni informed with his many phone calls. Whenever coming to Connecticut he would make it his business to assemble friends for lunch to meet and reminese. He was a sweet person that cared for his friends. I will greatly miss him. May he rest in peace.
