Dr. John Peter Rogowski, age 85, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Martha Skala Rogowski, entered into eternal life on June 13, 2017. Born in Scranton, PA to the late John and Laura Orzel Rogowski, John graduated from Fairfield College Preparatory School, Class of 1948, Fairfield University, and then Georgetown Medical School. John practiced psychiatry in the Bridgeport area and later became the Chief of Psychiatry at St. Vincent's Medical Center. He was an avid baseball fan and took pleasure in astronomy and looking at the universe through his telescope. John enjoyed being by the water and fishing and clamming. John had his own kit car that he spent many hours building and working on. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, John was always joking around with his family. His memory will lovingly be remembered by his loving wife, Martha Rogowski, of Fairfield; his two sons, John Rogowski, Jr. and Paul Rogowski, of Champaign, IL; a grandson, Jonathan Meci; step-children, Michael and Scott Licamele; several step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews from the Backus family. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by a sister, Helen Backus. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. directly in the Faith Center Chapel at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield, CT 06824.
