Knew Jay very well...we both attended Saint Mary's elementary school in Derby. The stories I could tell you about those nuns...their disciplinary tool of choice was the medieval wooden ruler across the knuckles...not once did Jay receive the wrath of the wooden ruler...but as for myself...quite familiar with it. Jay was smart and steered clear of the quite creative shenanigans me and my associates would pull on the nuns...like lining up a dominoes row of empty tin cans inside the nuns piano just before music class...the hardest part of the scheme was keeping a straight face when the cans began to rattle...the entire class would laugh...but we had a code to never rat each other out...even when under direct threat of the medieval wooden ruler. Jay loved to fish...we spent many evenings fishing at Osborndale State Park and became good friends...no trout...but plenty of catfish. I knew Jay's mother...she was a very nice lady...very pleasant and polite...and a very generous tipper. Jay's house was on my Evening Sentinel paper route of 60 customers...miss that newspaper. May you rest in eternal peace Jay...it was an honor to be your friend...my wife and I extend our most sincere condolences to your family...rest in peace old friend.

Sincere condolences to Carol, Eddy, Evelyn and their families on Jay's passing. He was a great guy, full of life, very intelligent with a wide variety of interests. Jay was extremely loyal to his family and friends, and to the schools he attended and their athletic teams. We in the Frank Skowronski branch of the family always appreciated and were very grateful for his undying support for our brother, Bob, and the Green Bay Packers. He supported all of us in our athletic and personal endeavors. As noted in his obituary, Jay was a lover of nature and beauty. Among his many successful landscaping projects was the landscaping around the Derby KFC. Even so many years after he completed the project, the landscaping remains beautiful. May it be a constant and lasting reminder of Jay as we all go in and out of the restaurant. Jay may no longer be with us physically, but he is very much with us in spirit and memory. Sincere condolences, Cousin Gene Skowronski

Saddened and shocked to hear of JJ's passing. We shared the bond of Prep football as we both played for the "Duke". In later years we would watch the games from the sidelines. Rest in Peace, Skow.

We are truly sorry for your loss of John. I was a derbyite going to cvs with John as our pharmacist who had a great personality for customers. I even babysat for his twins. RIP John

I remember hours spent with Jay at family events. He was passionate about what he loved: his family, his yard, his gardens. He was a man of many talents. I also enjoyed his dry sense of humor. My condolences to his family, especially Julie and John.

I spent a lot of time with 'Skow' watching our sons at Prep football practice. Skow was very passionate about his children and Prep football. He was always very polite to my family. Condolances to all the family. May God rest his soul! Go Prep!!!
