John Treschitta Obituary

TRESCHITTA John P. Treschitta, age 75, loving husband of Rita Danese Treschitta, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2007 after a lengthy illness. John was born in Bridgeport on February 13, 1932 to the late Domenick and Carmella Treschitta. He was a resident of Norwalk for the past 55 years. After graduating from Bullard Haven High School he attended the University of Bridgeport. He was a project engineer at various companies including Burndy and Amphenol, where he was the head of design engineering. He was also a contract engineer for U.S. Surgical and IBM and was the holder of several patents in electrical switching technology. After his retirement, he became a real estate developer John was a member and served as an usher at St. Matthew's Church. He also volunteered driving for the blind and for cancer patients, and volunteered for various other community services. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, dedicated father and good friend. He will be sadly missed by his children, sons John and his wife, Mary, of Fairfield: Domenick, of Warwick, N.Y.; Kenneth and his wife Linda, of Ridgefield; Louis and his wife, Nora of Monroe; Nicholas, of Kennesaw, Ga.; and his daughter, Melissa Sullivan and her husband Shawn, of Fairfield. He was predeceased by his son, Ronald. He is survived by 16 grandchildren: Jodie and Amber Treschitta, of Fairfield; Pamela, Valerie and Andrew Treschitta, of Warwick, N.Y.; Kenneth, Mary Grace, Michael and Caroline Treschitta of Ridgefield; Steven, Megan, Timothy and John Treschitta of Monroe; Samantha and Madeleine Treschitta of Kennesaw, Georgia; and Zack Sullivan of Fairfield. He is also survived by sisters Josephine Vavrinec of Stratford; Concetta Lazor of Stratford; and Lucy Guglielmoni of Arizona; and survived by his brother, Domenick Treschitta and his wife Barbara, of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was predeceased by his brother Russell Treschitta. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday April 18, at 10 a.Mm in St. Matthew's Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Richards Avenue, Norwalk. Friends may visit TODAY from 5 to 8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Matthew's Church or the American Red Cross.
