John Williams Obituary

Williams, John A.
John Anthony "Tony" Williams. On December 2, 2013, the brightness in this world was slightly diminished with the sudden passing of John Anthony "Tony" Williams. To his close friends in life, Tony was one of the most vibrant, upbeat, colorful characters that they ever knew. No matter how bad a situation could have been, Tony could always point out the lighter side of it and make you smile. He lived his life by a very simple philosophy….don't be a shoulda-coulda-woulda person, live your life in the here and now with no regrets. When his heart stopped beating suddenly on that winter day, he left behind a legacy of great adventures and lifelong friends. For his friends and extended FAMILY, that legacy will be kept alive by the telling and retelling his larger than life adventures to each other and to anyone that ever knew him, especially the very fortunate few that were his Brothers in life. "REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN"

It warms my heart that you are being kept "alive" through these memories. A testament to the true heart that was you. You touched so many lives, and I think about you often. I'd never know when I'd see you, but always knew I would. You'd drop by my house, my office, or I'd see you just on the roads somewhere.

I just learned of Tony’s passing, and am so sad at the loss of such a warm, loving personality. Tony and I went all the way back to sixth grade, when Tony sat behind me in class and was my square dance partner in gym class. As young adults, we both lived in Manhattan and spent many a summer evening sitting in the bleacher seats at the old Yankee stadium, cheering on Reggie Jackson. It was really nice to have an old friend in the big bad city as we worked at advancing in our respective careers. It was so exciting whenever Tony got an acting role! Tony, you were a shining light; you will be missed.

I often think about you and what a special individual you are - think of your look when I complained about life and you told me to get over it with a smile on your face. Taking you to bring a Rose to a friend - you are a mystery to us all. How did God put so much love for others in your heart? Missing you my friend. To others you may always be John Anthony, but us who knew you more, you will always be Tony!

Well, It has been a few years since you departed from those who loved you, but spiritually you are remembered every day, and what you taught us about life, we are living that, too! Miss you Tony!

I faced the world as baby new born from the womb after 26 years in prison. Tony met me and looked after me like a Father, Brother, and a Son. Always had a shoulder to lean on, and ear to listen, and the right words to encourage me forward. Today I await to receive a Doctorate degree, because Tony showed me how to get the most out of life. Tony loved his friends and his family, because in truth, Tony thought of each one of us as his family. In a populace as great as ours, it is not every day a "man" is born. Tony stood alone, a "man" amongst men! Thank you Tony. My world seems so much smaller without you in it. Jesus Loves you, and so do I. (Jn.3:3)

I remember Tony pulling up in a bicycle built for 2 and inviting me for a ride. What a wonderful afternoon that was. I will cherish that time with him forever.

Tony and I were good friends. We shared theater and music and lots of laughs. He watched out for me when I was new to high school and drove me home from school. Throughout the years as we would run into each other he always had a big smile, a laugh and a soul hug to share...I will miss him. Love you Tony... Donna Martire miller

I too have known Tony since our years at Johnson Junior High.We had many classes together and he would always make me laugh. If I was sad or down,he would say "Don't be that way" and smile and before I knew it we would crack up laughing..He was always smiling. It was a pleasure and honor to have known this wonderful person. Thank' s for the memories. K. Marshall U.K

Oh Tony ~ my friend. I always loved running into you. The last time, on Stratford Avenue when I pulled over and made you let me give you a ride. Always a kind word, always a smile. I'll never forget the time - back in our early Windmill days, that you thought you offended me and showed up at my office with a rose. You could never offend anyone.... I'm sure there was a special place in Heaven that was held for you until you arrived. Rest easy my friend. You will always be in my memories, but I certainly will miss our random meetings here and there.....

I remember Tony coming over to visit my brother George when I was a kid. Later in life I saw him at random times. He always had a smile and a story about another adventure. He was a bright light in my life whenever we met. You'll be missed my friend.

Tony would fly past me on his bike as I rode mine on my way to work. Thanks, Tony for your spontaneous "HI!". I am so happy I chose to say "Hello!" back all those years ago. You could fill a person with uncommon joy in a moment's time. Happy trails, until we meet again.

Tony was the kindest person I have ever met. He always had a smile and a laugh that is unforgettable. When my husband passed he jumped right in to help me out without expecting anything in return except a hug. He would always leave a rose on Valentine Day a white rose he liked to do it while you weren't there. He is deeply missed and was such a wonderful, happy and optimistic person. I feel honored to have called him my friend. RIP my friend xoxo Jan Silva
