Joseph Padua Obituary

Padua, Joseph C.
Joseph C. Padua, 84, of Springfield, Ohio and formerly of Bridgeport, Connecticut, passed away peacefully Friday evening, November 15, 2013 at Forest Glen Health Campus. He was born in Bridgeport on August 20, 1929, the son of the late Angelo and Jenny (Carfi) Padua. Joe served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He owned and operated Tom Thumb Florist, Bridgeport for 65 years. A long-time member of St. Patrick Church, he served as a lector, altar server and Eucharistic minister for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Trinacria Society, Kiwanis Club and was a Boy Scout leader with Troop #567, Bridgeport. Survivors include three children and spouses, David and Susan Padua of Stratford, CT, Paul and Theresa Padua of Norfolk, CT and Nancy and Rev. Art Thibeault of Springfield, OH; seven grandchildren, Amy (John) Bennett, Mark (Emily) Thibeault, Scott (Michelle) Padua, Jennifer (Brent) Frazier, and Lauren, Kathryn and Dylan Padua; and three great grandchildren, Kyleigh Frazier, Harrison Bennett and Adriana Thibeault. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Harriet (Krushak) Padua and a brother, Peter Padua. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in St. Patrick Church, 851 N. Avenue, Bridgeport with Rev. Fr. George O'Neill, celebrant. The Mass will be followed by refreshments in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield, CT. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 9057, Bridgeport, CT 06601 or Lawrenceville Community Church Food Pantry, 3880 Lawrenceville Dr., Springfield, OH 45504. My first teenage job was working as a "runner" at Tom Thumb Florist during the busy holidays. I will never forget what a gentle and patient man Mr Padua was.....back then and every time I continued to see him at St Pat's. My sympathies to the Padua Family.
