Joseph Rusnak Obituary

Rusnak, Joseph N.
"A loving Husband, Father, and Brother"
Mr. Joseph N. Rusnak, 69, of Watertown, passed away suddenly January 5th.
Born in Milford and raised in Stratford, CT, Mr. Rusnak earned a Bachelors from the University of Connecticut School of Business and an MBA in Marketing from Babson College. He began his career as a senior program manager and marketing officer for Colonial Bancorp Inc. His career in banking spanned many years with Bank of Boston and later with Mason and Madison in the field of marketing. He ended his career as Vice President with CBIA in Hartford after many years of dedicated service.
Mr. Rusnak was an avid gardener, with the biggest garden in the neighborhood! A big sports fan, Joe played hockey on an over 40 league called The Dinosaurs for many years. He also served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Quinnipiac Game Association and assisted with their annual game dinners. Joe enjoyed reading, history, 50's and 60's music, traveling, hosting weekly happy hours with his many close friends, cooking gourmet meals (even during opening day of fishing camping trips!) and throwing paella parties. His greatest joy was his 2 year old grandson, who made him light up with pride. He was eagerly awaiting the pending arrival of his second grandson due in March.
His happiest and most cherished times were those spent with his wife, and high school sweetheart, Elena Del Vecchio Rusnak, who predeceased him by 5 months. Joseph was predeceased also by his father, Joseph Rusnak Sr. He leaves behind his children, Joseph J. Rusnak of Charlotte, NC, his daughter Catherine Anna Craig, son-in-law Kenneth Craig and grandson Collin Joseph Craig, all of Wethersfield, his brother William Rusnak of Stratford and his mother Jean (Simmons) Rusnak of Stratford.
Calling hours are Friday, January 9th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A service will follow at 12:00 PM at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. Burial will immediately follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown.

Rest in peace, Joe. There is an old Norwegian toast that this Hungarian girl cannot pronounce, but it means "together in heaven." You and Ellie.

Catherine and Joey: So many have experienced a great loss at your father's passing. I worked side-by-side with him for many years. And while his deep marketing and advertising knowhow were so impressive, it was his people skills that especially shined. He could always get people to work harmoniously and would resolve conflicts and draw out their abilities with great patience and understanding. He cherished you both and was very, very proud of you. He and your mother were an extraordinary couple who shared many adventures through the years. It was a pleasure to be in their company. Joe was good at so many things that it added up to making him a great man. I know you are proud of him too.

Joe was courageous. We played sports together and Joe was the best 145lb guard on the O line. Also, he knew before the start of the 440 yd dash that he was going to get sick at the finish line. Guts

Joe, you and Ellie were a big part of my life, Go Huskies! I will always remember our years at UConn with Ellie as my roommate and you as her Knight in Shining Armor. It is so sad that after all these years so much time has passed without knowing what was happening in our lives. You are now where you want to be, with the love of your life. Always.
