Joseph Sikorski Obituary

SIKORSKI Joseph F. Sikorski, age 76, of Bethel, died on Friday, December 24, 2004, at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Frances T. "Fran" (Kachmar) Sikorski. Joseph was born January 2, 1928, in Bridgeport, the son of the late Joseph and Alice (Norotowicz) Sikorski. He was raised in Bridgeport, graduating from Warren Harding High School, and later served in the U.S. Army. Joseph was employed with Sears Roebuck & Co. as a department manager in several capacities, working there for 34 years from 1959, until his retirement in 1993. Following his retirement, he was employed with the Bethel Food Market as a cashier for 10 years. Joseph had an avid interest in the theatre and enjoyed dining in various restaurants. A resident of Bethel since 1959, Joseph attended both St. Mary Church, Bethel, as well as Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Danbury. A devoted husband, father and friend, in addition to his wife of 51 years, Joseph is survived by two sons, Mark R. Sikorski of Hampton, N.H., and David J. Sikorski of Binghamton, N.Y.; two daughters, Andrea K. Plona of Barrington, N.H., and Claudia A. Sikorski of Arroyo Seco, N.M.; two brothers, Henry Sikorski of Stratford and Edward Sikorski of Bridgeport; five grandchildren, Stacey, Andrew, Eric, Kellie and Cameron; and one nephew, Christopher. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at St. Mary Church, Bethel, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel. The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are requested to be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church Building Improvement Fund, 12 Cottage St., Danbury, CT 06810, or to the Regional Hospice of Western CT, 405 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810.
