Josephine Paola Staltaro Posta, age 87, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bianco, Province of Reggio Calabria, Italy, on May 28, 1934 she was a daughter of the late Domenico and Maria Marfia Staltaro. She came to the United States at the age of 18 years and met Mario Posta, her husband of 56 years. They were longtime Bridgeport residents before moving to Fairfield in 1989. She was dedicated to the care of her family and everyone enjoyed her Italian cooking and Sunday suppers. Josephine belonged to the former Holy Rosary Church, was a member of the St. Theresa Guild and volunteered at the St. Anthony Festival. At St. Margaret Shrine, she was a member of the Altar and St. Theresa Guild and belonged to the Sisters in Faith at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Survivors include a daughter, Regina Abelli and her husband George Duenges, a son, Dominic Posta and his wife Letty, two brothers, Pat Staltaro and Frank Staltaro and his wife Christine, her sister, Angie Staltaro, whom she traveled with as a team, five grandchildren, Renee Abelli Kakaounakis and her husband Emanuel, Mario Posta, Elizabeth Posta, Geena Duenges and Nicole Posta Rodrigues and her husband Mike, three great grandsons, George and Emanuel Kakaounakis and Mario Posta, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was pre-deceased by a granddaughter, Rena.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Margaret Shrine, 2523 Park Ave., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
