Karl Eriksson Obituary

Karl Eriksson
Karl Ingvar (Kie) Eriksson of Westport, CT sadly passed away on December 10, 2022. Karl was born in Sweden on February 10, 1936.
He went to school in Stockholm, Sweden and received his degree in engineering. Karl worked for ITT Flygt AB in Sweden, but when his boyhood dream came true to go to America, he accepted a transfer in 1977 when he was offered a job at ITT Flygt-US as a director of marketing and later promoted to Vice President in 1985. Karl continued to work at ITT Flygt-US until his retirement in 2004 and was named Chairman of the board of ITT Flygt-US leading special projects. Kie loved his work and the people he worked with and really gave 110 percent every day to his work, coworkers, and friends. When Kie said he loved you, you really felt loved. Kie was a great lover of music and always played keyboard at home and at parties. He also played the accordion and was a great singer and loved to dance. He had said he wanted to be an entertainer if his dream of engineering did not come true.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents, Ragnar and Margit Eriksson; his first wife, Kerstin; and his son, Bengt. He is survived by his wife, Eva Schell Eriksson; his daughter, Eva in Sweden; his grandchildren, Lukas, Linus Eriksson and family of NH. His extended family, Carl Schell and family of NJ, Sarah Alevizos and family of MT, and David Schell and family of NJ. Karl will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Church, 41 Easton Road, Westport, CT 06880. Kie 110,
Du blev min mentor, inspiratör och förebild när jag kom till Flygt i Norwalk, CT , 1979.
Vi jobbade hårt och hade roligt på jobbet och på After work, och du spelade och vi sjöng:
"Country road take me home.... "
Tack Kie för din inspiration som jag fortsatt bära med mej!

Kie was and is in many ways my beacon showing the way to a more fulfilled life by inspiring and challenging yourself and your team to do more and better. To find new path through innovations and smarter solutions. Delighting customers, friends, and company by adding a good portion of fun.
He was one of those persons that would always interpret your ideas and thoughts by doing them better and letting you feel smarter.
Thank you Kie!

He was Mr.110%. Kie was not only a forward thinking engineer but also a skilled and creative sales/marketing person. He genuinely enjoyed people and was supportive of anyone's effort to learn and grow. And indeed was always willing to share whatever knowledge he himself had gained. But above all he was a warm and generous human being and will be remembered as such by all those he touched along his way. Rest well Kie and thank you.

Kie will be greatly missed by all, especially all of us at ITT Flygt Corporation, of which I was one for 35 years. He was 110% a special person.

Eva Schell Eriksson and Eva Eriksson and families, Sue and I are very saddened to learn of Kie´s passing, we offer our sincere condolences to you all.
I was hired at ITT Flygt-US in 1983. Who knew when hired as the "Big and Blue" pumps Mktg. Mgr. that I would spend 40-years with this wonderful company and have been so fortunate to have worked for Kie for 21 of those years.
As his obit relates, he was was a wonderfully enthusiastic and knowledgeable leader, I feel so privileged to have been able to learn the submersible pump business under his leadership.
Kie would often speak of "lucky stars" or occurrences in life... one of my luckiest was accepting the position at ITT Flygt-US and knowing my friend Kie for these near 40-years. Rest well.
