Katherine Martelon Obituary

Katherine Ann "Kit" Martelon
July 11, 2022
Katherine Ann Martelon, "Kit", age 67, resident of Boston, Massachusetts and Milford, Connecticut, entered eternal rest on July 11, 2022.
Kit was born on January 28, 1955 in New Haven, Connecticut and was the daughter of Letitia Martelon Malone and the late George F. Martelon. She attended Lauralton Hall High School and earned a degree in Economics from Boston College. She completed her post-graduate studies at Boston University, achieving a Master's in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. She was also a Certified Financial Analyst.
Kit spent over 30 years working in the banking industry serving in senior level positions, often working on a global scope, in areas such as Enterprise Risk, Credit and Portfolio management for firms such as Federal Home Loan Bank, State Street Bank, Bank of America, and Citizens Bank.
Kit's career afforded her the opportunity to travel to many interesting places around the world and she enjoyed sharing stories of the cultures and cuisines she experienced as an international traveler. But her favorite destinations were sitting on the sand with friends at Laurel Beach in Milford, CT and her second home of Boston where she lived for over 50 years enjoying the company of friends attending music, art and other cultural events.
In recent years, Kit became a patient at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, and she developed a deep appreciation for the care and support she received from her medical team. She was grateful for the resources they made available, and she made it her mission to learn as much as she could. This also fueled her passion for volunteering, and she found great comfort in supporting fellow patient friends and participating in groups such as the Sarcoma Sunflower Brigade.
Kit is survived by her mother, Letitia M. Malone, currently of Milford, Connecticut; her sister, Cindy Eadie (husband, John) currently of Milford, Connecticut and her brother, George F. Martelon, Jr. (wife Rayellen) also of Milford, Connecticut. She is also survived by a niece, MaryKate McClain (husband Matthew) and a nephew, Timothy Martelon (wife Rebecca) and two great-nieces, Grace and Avery.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 26th in Saint Gabriel Church, 26 Broadway, Milford, Connecticut at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Kit's memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute at www.dana-farber.org/gift

I am without words to learn of her passing. We met back in the 70s in Boston and shared many interests especially in music. She was a long-time friend not just to me but to my wife as well. Kit always asked how our family was doing and particularly about the adventures of our son as he was growing up. We last saw her when she visited Milford and met us for a late lunch at The Kimberly Restaurant where we spent the afternoon sharing food and stories and reminiscing about all sorts of adventures and stories until the restaurant closed for the day. We will miss her greatly. Our deepest condolences to the Martelon family.

My sympathies to the Martelon family. Kit will be missed. I had the joy of working with her at Bank of Boston - she was one of my first work colleagues and she taught me so much re: credit analysis. I´m saddened to learn of her passing and wish your family peace as you mourn her loss.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Kit's passing on July 11th. I just found out yesterday. Kit was one of the most wonderful people I knew. We had both worked at BankBoston for several years and she had become a good friend. We stayed in touch and tried to get together when we could. Despite the struggles with her health, she always had a lovely smile on her face and was willing to help anyone in need. We got together virtually on a zoom call last year, but I wish I had done a better job of staying in touch. I will miss her.

My deepest condolences to the Martelon family. May her soul rest in peace.

It was my pleasure to meet Kit through volunteer opportunities at United Way. Kit was a tireless volunteer and supporter of women and children in our community (Boston). She also did some fine grant writing work for us and will be remembered fondly by our United Way family. We are so very sorry for your loss, she loved her family very much and spoke often of you all.
