Kenneth R. Space

SPACE Mr. Kenneth R. Space, age 79, of Westport, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Saint Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport. Mr. Space was born in Bridgeport, son of the late Ray D. and Alice (Doherr) Space and had been a lifelong resident of Westport. He was a master printer previously employed by Wassell Printing in Westport and Visi Records of Norwalk. A talented artist and skilled craftsman, Mr. Space won several awards with Famous Artists of Westport and owned and operated The Craftsman's Corner in Westport. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include one son, Richard A. Space of Easton; two daughters, Susan S. Knoll of Tallahasse, Fla. and Alison M. Sternberg of Easton; two brothers, Ray Space of Stratford and Douglas Space of South Yarmouth, Mass.; five grandchildren, Krista, Alex and Garrett Knoll, Steven and Brian Sternberg; and one great-grandchild, Grant Knoll. Mr. Space was predeceased by his first wife, Mary DiScala Space; his second wife, Gerri Sibbick Space; one sister, Dorothy Sinnott; and one brother, Arthur Space, who was killed during World War II. The family will receive friends in the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road E., Westport on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will take place Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Westport. Contributions in memory of Mr. Space may be made to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897.
