Shirley June (Gardner) Space passed away in her sleep at her home in Lawton, OK on May 30, 2025 surrounded by her family.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1935 to Parley and Jennie (Howard) Gardner in St. Johns, Michigan.
She grew up on a farm doing farm work and rodeoing.
She married Dorwin R. Space (Cy) on March 19, 1952. They had 4 children: Michael, Leon, Tammy and Sharon.
They enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, and traveling during their marriage. They divorced in 1969.
Shirley became a mother again in 1974 and officially adopted Jody in 1981.
She continued to enjoy hunting, fishing, traveling, riding horses, going to auctions and crocheting blankets for vetrans and family members.
Shirley had a variety of jobs during her life. She was a welder, a bartender, a waitress, a construction worker, and most importantly a mother.
Shirley is survived by her children: Michael (Millie) Space, Ithaca, MI; Tammy (Kirk) Shelden, Florida; Sharon Blasdell, Highmore, SD; and Jody (Dan) Frye, Lawton, OK. And many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Parley and Jennie Gardner, her sisters Lorena Mae Patterson and Helen Thompson, her son Leon Space, and her two grandsons Steven Allen Bradley and Thomas Earl Moore.
