Gerald William Space

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald William Space - ending his courageous and selfless battle with brain cancer.
Born on August 19, 1987, Gerry lived simply and expressed his individuality in his own unique way. If Gerry was interested in something --he researched, read, watched, learned, purchased and pursued it – his purchases usually required challenging repairs - a trait he was known for.
Gerry loved the simplicity of his life being at home with his wife and daughters and working in his garage. Even his diagnosis did not alter his routine. Remarkably, just three days after surgery, he was still troubleshooting for his job from his hospital bed, exemplifying his dedication and work ethic. Gerry worked for RSR/Ecobat as a Project Engineer for the past two years, and as an Iron Worker for Local 417 for 17 years at RSR. As a skilled welder, he was the proud owner/operator of Iron Premier Concepts. He challenged himself to a side job just two months post-surgery. He could also be found at local events cooking for Boo's Kettle Corn with his family. Gerry was an avid Facebook Marketplace shopper always lining up another project for himself and he enjoyed looking at Keesler's equipment. Gerry was a member of Westbrookville FD, a past member of the Huguenot FD and he enjoyed being part of the Howells FD family as well. He was also a member of the Wa-A-We Rod & Gun Club.
Left to cherish their loving memories are his wife, Jacalyn (Jackie Neumann), beloved daughters Piper Journey and Paige Danielle. Parents Doreen and Rusty Space, sister Sara Haynes. In Laws, Cathy & Jerome Neumann, brothers-in-law, Jerome, Jake and Matt, sisters-in-law, Ashley and Amanda, eight nieces and nephews, aunts & uncles, cousins, special friends, Billy (BJ) Koselnak, Ed Kamenas and many more. Predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Clifford (Gerry) Space and Lee Space (Grammie Lee) and maternal grandparents Clyde (Bill) and Gladys (Ruth) Corwin. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 11th from 3pm to 6pm to celebrate Gerry's life, with a casual dress code in honor of his laid-back spirit. The service will include firematic services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Westbrookville Fire Department in Gerry's honor.
