Kyle Schneider Obituary

SCHNEIDER Kyle Reid Schneider, age 17, of Fairfield, was tragically taken from us all on Thursday, May 1st, 2008. Born in Stamford, Kyle grew up in Wilton until moving to New Castle, Maine in 2003, where he attended The Center for Teaching and Learning and the Great Salt Bay School where he graduated 8th grade. He attended his freshman year at Lincoln Academy in Maine prior to moving to Fairfield where he currently was attending Fairfield Warde High School. Kyle's generous heart and uncanny ability to make everyone laugh with his sometimes irreverent humor will be missed by all who knew him. Kyle's ability to excel in academics was apparent from an early age. In grade school, he was recommended for John Hopkins Search for Talented Youth and most recently medalled for the second year in a row in the National Latin Contest. Above all else, music played a major role in Kyle's life. He had an eclectic taste from Al Green to Metallica. In the third grade, he picked up the Saxophone and became a talented and gifted player. He played in several school and community jazz bands and with the help of friends, taught himself the bass guitar. Kyle also had a great voice and loved singing his favorite songs. In 17 short years, Kyle connected with and enriched the lives of all who knew him - family, friends, teachers, and countless others from three communities. Kyle will always remain in the hearts of those who knew and love him. A loving and generous son, brother and friend, Kyle was always willing to help others. Kyle will be forever missed and loved by his parents, Mary Reid (Buchanan) Schneider, and Douglas Robert Schneider; a brother and sister, Douglas L. Schneider and Rachel L. Schneider; his maternal grandmother, Francine Buchanan of Darien; paternal grandparents, Donald R. and Wanda Schneider of Soldiers Grove, WI; and loving aunts, uncles and cousins in both the Schneider and Buchanan families. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Warren Dunn Buchanan. A funeral service celebrating Kyle's life will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 11a.m. at the First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, Fairfield. Interment will be private. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 7, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to: Kyle Schneider Memorial Music Scholarship c/o First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, Fairfield, CT 06824.

Good afternoon, Kyle... Know that I remember you. It was Thanksgiving dinner you your grandma Fran and me and I think your father all had Thanksgiving dinner together. When I heard of your death, it shocked me to the core. It made me so sad and so frustrated with this world. You may have been taken from us, especially your family, but you'll never be forgotten ever. What I remember of that particular day was you were polite, you were helpful, and you were wise beyond your years. We had good conversation and it was nice that you were able to come and spend Thanksgiving with your grandmother. Thank you for that beautiful memory. And to Kyle's family, I want you to know your son left a mark on my heart. I don't think I'll ever ever forget him. I say this with love and I hope that you find comfort and knowing that he touched many people. Deirdre , RN

I met Kyle one thanksgiving at his grandmothers home when I worked at the hospital where I met Francine Buchanan. You could not ask for a more polite young man. My life was truly blessed and enriched for knowing him. I will never forget you Kyle or your family. Forever and always my sympathies. ❤

I will always remember the day I met you Kyle. It was thanksgiving 2006. We talked for hours while I helped Grandma Fran get dinner ready. Hearing of your death was devastating to me and I felt the world lost a wonderful, kind and gentle young man. Always in my heart and not far from my thoughts. Wherever you are Im sure you are surrounded by love and joy... love always Deirdre the Canadian Nurse...

"Oh Gods who rule the dark and silent world,
To you all born of a woman needs must come.
All lovely things at last go down to you.
You are the debtor who is always paid.
A little while we tarry up on earth.
Then we are yours forever and forever.
But I seek one who came to you too soon.
The bud was plucked before the flower bloomed.
I tried to bear my loss. I could not bear it.
Love was too strong a god, O King, you know.
If that old tale men tell is true, how once,
The flowers saw the rape of Proserpine.
The weave again for sweet Eurydice,
Life's pattern that was taken from the loom too quick.
See, I ask a little thing,
Only that you will lend, not give, her to me.
She shall be yours when her years' span is full."
--From the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice

I miss you Kyle, you're forever on my mind.

Dear Kyle...
I just want you to know while looking for your grandmother, I found an article that talked about your death. As I sit here feeling an immense sadness, and loss for your life and the family that mourns you, I can't help but be grateful to have met you and known you. The brief encounter will be forever etched in my mind...

Mary...I cared for your mother and kept in touch with her for years...Now I know why I lost touch...She lost a precious grandson, as you have lost an amazing, loving child.

I am so sorry. There will never be enough words to share with you or to help you get through this...If there is ever, anything I can do for you or your family, will you please let me know...

*sigh*

All time has stood still...My prayers are with you...

Dear Mary, Doug, Dougie, and Rachel,
We are so shocked to hear about Kyle's passing and we want you to know that we will keep your family in our prayers.
We haven't seen Kyle since he was a young boy living in Wilton, but we remember him for his kindness and his humor. We will never forget how he helped Matt out when he fell and hurt his head at Dougie's and Mike's Little League game. We have told that story many times to many people over the years and it always brings a smile to everyone's face. We care deeply about what you are going through.

With love and sympathy,

Dear Mary, Rachel, and Doug,
I'm really really sorry that this happened. I hadn't seen Kyle since he came up last spring, but all these memories of when you guys lived down the street, and when we used to carpool in to school in the morning. They're just swarming back. It's just so unreal, so unbelievable that this would happen. It just doesn't seem true. I'm sorry I couldn't be down in Farfield for the service. I really wish I could be. I'm thinking of you guys up here. I wish you the best of luck with all of this, I'll see you when you come back up.

We are extremly sad and can only condole ourselves with the thought Kyle is just waiting with God for you on the other side, a safe peaceful side:
Love never disappears for death is a non-event.
I have merely retired to the room next door.
You and I are the same; what we were for each other, we still are.
Speak to me as you always have, do not use a different tone, do not be sad.
Continue to laugh at what made us laugh.
Smile and think of me.
Life means what it has always meant.
The link is not severed.
Why should I be out of your soul if I am out of your sight?
I will wait for you, I am not here, but just on the other side of this path.

Death is a Part of Us

Death is a part of us
Each day,
Each week,
Each month,
Each year, and
Each lifetime
No matter good or bad
No matter happy or sad
When it comes down to
One person that we lose,
Or has been lost,
We cherish day in and day out
What we thought of that person.
What we think about is what he or she
Was like,
Was feeling,
Was thinking,
And what a good friend he or she was
Before and after this tragic death that
Had happened.
We would think about all the
Good times,
Bad times, and
Everything in between, and
Remember why we loved him or her very much.
No matter if it is a
Family member,
Friend,
Companion, or
Loved one.
We still believe that death is a part of US and always will be.

R.I.P. Kyle Reid Schneider
You will always be in our thoughts and prayers

Kyle, I miss you so much. You made such a difference in my life, even if you didn't know it. I'll miss going into school today, and not seeing your smiling, laughing, cheerful face in band. By the way, you got a 3 on your spotcheck on Variations of America. Congrats! But you didn't deserve this. But hopefully, you're somewhere better than we are right now, somewhere where you're relaxing, and laughing at us. Watch over us, and know how much we miss and love you. I know we'll meet again someday. Until then. R.I.P. Kyle Reid Schneider 5/1/2008
