Leo Houle Obituary

HOULE Leo G. Houle, age 98, a 75 year Stamford resident, passed away Monday, March 31, 2008 at Stamford Hospital. Born February 8, 1910 in Thompson, he was the son of the late Eugene and Mary L. Dusaume Houle. Leo was a retired roofing contractor for Rex Roofing of Stamford. He was a 1924 graduate of St. Ann's Parochial Grammar School in Bristol and a 1925 graduate of Smith's Business School in Bristol. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Stamford Kiwanis Club, Catholic War Veterans and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by a son, John E. Houle and his wife, Pat, of Stamford; a brother, Alcide Houle and his wife, Marian of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Melissa, Jeffrey and Christopher Houle of Stamford; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Stella Street of Stamford. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother, Melina Langlois; his wife, Marie Houle; a sister, Liliale Houle; three stepsisters, Rita Ziomek, Jeannette Rhault and Ann Newell; and a stepbrother, Henry Houle. Friends may call in the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford Friday, April 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 9:50 a.m., Saturday, April 5 and proceed to St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at St. John's Mausoleum in Darien. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH LEO'S FAMILY. I MET LEO SEVERAL YEARS AGO WHEN HE WAS A PATIENT IN THE OFFICE WHERE I WORKED. JOHN,YOU DID THE WINDOW REPLACEMENTS IN MY HOME IN NORWALK, UPON YOU DAD'S RECOMMENDATION. MAY HE REST IN PEACE WITH YOUR MOTHER.

Never knew Leo but occasionally requested through genealogical inquiries for birth data. He was baptized at St Joseph Church, North Grosvenordale, CT on 10 Feb, 1910, son of Eugene and Marie Dussaume.
