Lois Desrosiers Obituary

Lois M. Desrosiers
Lois M. Huxford Desrosiers, age 106, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024 surrounded by the love of her family. Born on October 23, 1917, in New London, Connecticut, Lois' journey through life was marked by her loving spirit and thoughtful nature.
Lois, a graduate of Harding High School, was a woman of many talents and interests. Lois married the love of her life, Elmo G. Desrosiers, in 1940, and together they built a warm and welcoming home in Stratford, where they raised their beloved children. After Elmo's death, Lois' granddaughter, Michele Soviero, thought her grandmother needed companionship to help her through a sad time and went to stay with her. That was forty years ago and the two of them have lived together ever since, sharing a unique and loving bond.
Lois was an avid reader who found solace and adventure within the pages of countless books. Her love for the written word was matched by her passion for daily crossword puzzles, a testament to her sharp and curious mind. Travel was another of Lois' joys. She and Elmo traversed the globe, exploring the wonders of Europe and the beauty of Hawaii, creating a tapestry of memories that would last a lifetime. Lois was also a graceful swimmer, known for her proper strokes and techniques, which she lovingly passed on to her entire family, ensuring that the joys of swimming would ripple through the generations.
Lois' green thumb brought beauty to the world through her flower gardening. She cultivated not only plants but also the hearts of those around her, nurturing both with equal care and attention. Her home was the heart of family gatherings, especially during the holidays, when she hosted wonderful dinners, made all the more special by her resplendent holiday decorations.
Known for her culinary skills, Lois made the absolute best potato salad, a dish that became the star of every family picnic. Her recipes were more than just instructions for delicious meals; they were expressions of her love and a legacy of shared moments that her family will cherish forever.
Lois was predeceased by her parents, Allen and Alice Huxford, her loving husband, Elmo G. Desrosiers and her sister, Doris Macri. She leaves behind a legacy of love and family, including her twin daughters, Leontene Grandfield and Richalene (Fiore) Soviero; twin sons, Ronald (Judy) Desrosiers and Allen (Terry) Desrosiers; seven grandchildren, Fiore (Janice) Soviero, Jr., Michele Soviero, Kara (Ernest) Teixeira, Shelby (Kevin) Ponganis, Keith Desrosiers, Danielle (Michael) Schryver, and Katie Desrosiers; seven great-grandchildren, Emma, Kyle, Micah and Kendall Soviero, Michael and Mackenzie Schryver, and Donovan Rodriguez; and two great-great-grandchildren, Lainey and Josie Soviero, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Funeral and burial will be private.
