Louis LaLuna Obituary

Louis L. LaLuna, Jr.
Louis L. LaLuna, Jr., loving brother to Marlynn, uncle to Andrew and Maria, great-uncle to Grace, cousin to many, and friend to all, tragically and unexpectedly went to his great reward after taking his daily bike ride. Louie was a lifelong resident of Stratford. He was a communicant of St. James Church, a Vietnam Veteran, and a retiree of Westinghouse/Bryant Electric. He was also a fixture at Rotary Ski & Snowboard where he was employed for many years. It was his second home where he worked alongside those he considered family. Louie is greatly missed. Louie's family appreciates all the words of sympathy. He was a very kind and generous man. If you chose to remember Louis, donations can be made in his name to St. James Church, in care of My Father's House/Food Pantry, 2070 Main St., Stratford, CT 06615. Friends are invited to a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 22, 2024, 10:00 a.m. by meeting directly at St. James Church, 2070 Main St., Stratford, CT. Burial at Union Cemetery will be private. For additional information or to share a message of condolence, visit www.wrmcdonaldfneralhome.com.

My condolences to the LaLuna family.
Lou was a special man, a special friend.
My family grew very fond of Louie at our multiple trips to Rotary during the ski season.
My 3 children started skiing at age 2 and Louie always took special care of us. They all went to see Lou for 20+ years.
Always smiling, always caring. My daughter Maggie worked there in High School and adored Lou.
As my kids were older, I would go in solo, and Louie would always ask about my Real Estate Endeavors. He typically knew what was going on construction wise in town.
On occasion I would resolve issues at his home, wether a stone wall or a chimney. I always left with a bag on vegetables and applesauce.
I would tease him about hid Datsun Z car almost restored in his garage, both of us being gear heads.
I wish that I had learned earlier of his passing.
God bless.

I went to Notre Dame with Louie and we were in the same class. He was always a calm and genteel guy. He was a friend to all and never got in a scrap like most of us did. I have lost touch with many of the old gang as I moved to WV after HS and still live here in the mountains. Funny I used to work at Bryant Electric as a summer job when I was in college as a Security Guard. That was an old landmark manufacturing place for breakers. Where Louie would have worked was probably upstairs where the technical and engineering guys were. It was a peek into old Bridgeport history for sure. RIP Louie for a well lived life!

We cannot begin to express how shocked and saddened we were to hear of Lou's sudden passing. Ironically, I had left a message on Lou's phone on Memorial Day to say hello and thank him for his service in Vietnam. Met Lou in 1977 at Sterling Ski Club with both of us driving Datsun 280Z's. We shared a ski lodge near Okemo and would alternate driving north for the weekend. During the off season we cycled on the Sterling midweek ride, with Sunday reserved for longer rides in preparation for our annual century ride in VT. We shadowed each other the entire 100 miles, laughing and absorbing the sublime sights and scents of New England landscapes.
Lou was best man at our wedding i988 and gave a wonderfully funny speech that had our guests laughing their derrieres off.
We stayed in touch over the years having moved south to follow a career in motorsports .
I will always treasure his perpetual smile and effervescent character and know that he will be waiting to greet all of us when our time arrives. No doubt with the line "What took you so long ?"
Lou- The best friend anyone could have! He made the world a better planet. RIP my friend.

I was a young kid in the 60's, growing up in the wonderful neighborhood between the old Raybestos Memorial Field and Louie's house at the end of East Main Street. There were 3 different age levels of kids in that area...what we called " The big kids" which were those who were graduating high school ( Louie was in this group), then there were the little brothers and sisters of elementary school age ( my group) and a group of really little kids! Louie used to come down to our area on lower East Main to hang out often with the Castelot and other neighborhood boys who would be working on their cars in their driveway, along with other teenaged boys who were into cars. Louie was one of them and still had a vintage car in his garage to this day! When I got married, I moved from Allyndale Drive up to just around the corner from Louie and our difference in years no longer mattered. Louie would often end his bike trips by riding by my house and he'd stop for a chat. I would also go jogging or power walking and end those at Louie's house where I'd often find him in his yard, gardening. We'd chat about everything from what was happening at St. James, around the neighborhood or town, or share gardening tips! Louie would often share his garden produce with me, even including applesauce he made from his apple tree! We also started going out for lunch together and had recently discussed going to The Cricket, now that ski season had slowed down! I just can't believe when I drive by his house daily that he's no longer there, but he will always live on in my heart!! Rest in peace, my good friend!

My sincere condolences go out to the La Luna, family, and friends. I was shocked to find out that Louie had passed away. I worked with Lou at Bryant Electric in the production planning department. He was always available for any questions that I may have had regarding the job. It was a pleasure working with him. He will be missed. Rest in heavenly peace, Lou.
