Page and Blair:
I hope time has given your hearts a chance to hurt a little less. I think of your mother quite often. Lucy had a major impact in the lives of many women and children at Emerge. The first lady who entered into our program 24 years ago shared a few stories with me about your mom a few months ago. Lucy has made loving and lasting impressions in the lives of those touched by her life. I was blessed to be a part of her life and she will live in my heart forever. I will always remember her and especially that beautiful smile. She was proud to be called mom and loved being called Cookie.
Please take care of yourselves.

Dear Page and Blair:

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our beloved Lucy. We became friends only recently (about 7 years ago) but the closeness we developed in a short span of time was astounding. From the outset, we were struck by her warm and generous nature, her sunny personality and her innate kindness. Lucy was truly a friend to us in joyous times and in challenging ones. We will always cherish memories of the great times we had together with her on our discovery trip in India, under the stars in the hot tub on her deck and on long walks in the Southport neighborhood we all loved. May she rest in peace and may you all find sustenance in the wonderful memories she has left behind. You have our love and our prayers.

My deepest sympathy goes to you, the family of a woman I have been proud and honored to call my friend. I've had the good fortune of knowing Lucy for many years through our affiliation first with United Home Care and then VNS of CT. I always found her to be a truly genuine person, making you feel that you were the only person that mattered when she was in your company. I only hope that I can follow her example and accomplish a fraction of what she has done in her lifetime; and, if I do, I will have made a difference in the world. I believe Lucy followed the thoughts of Mother Teresa who once said "Let no one ever come to you without feeling better". Such was the case with Lucy - she always made you feel better, sometimes just by flashing that brilliant smile. May you find comfort in each wonderful memory you own. God speed, good friend, until we meet again. . .

I am so heartbroken to hear about Lucy. Both she and Grant were a big part of my life growing up. I could never understand how she stayed so beautiful and thin when all she ate was cookies!!!! I will never forget either of them and the love that they shared as teenagers through out their lives together. It set a really high bar for the rest of us to achieve. my love and condolences to all of you.

Page & Blair
My heart goes out to you and your family. I loved your mother very much and will miss her deeply. She had a big heart with so much love to give. Her gift of love to me was precious and I will hold onto that love forever. Your mother and I shared so much together, we talked, we walked,we laughed, we danced, we cried, we shared many birthdays together and most importantly to us, we had our grandchildren around the same time. When your mother found out about the cancer, she called to tell me "thanks for the ride" and I'd like you to know it was one of the best rides of my life. Lucy made a huge difference the lives of many women and children at Emerge. Your mother's generosity made it possible for Emerges' success and for that I am forever grateful. Lucy's beautiful blue eyes and her sparkling smile is one of the ways I will remember her and she will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you both for sharing your mother with so many of us. Now Lucy, spread your wings my angel. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

I had the honor of knowing Lucy when she was a volunteer and board member at The Center for Women and Families. Lucy was generous of her time, talent and treasure and impacted the lives of so many. I am so sadden to hear of her passing and want her children and grandchildren to know that in addition to the loss you feel, the community has lost a beautiful soul.

Dear Lucy,

You worked, you loved, you laughed, you taught, and you healed many people. You were blessed with a keen intellect and you married your true love Grant and brought beautiful, devoted, and super bright daughters into the world, who in turn have found love and are raising amazing grandchildren. In short, your life embodied the social gospel. I will always remember you as the finest and fastest walker I have ever met. You have now once again walked ahead of us, and heaven is going to be filled with your footsteps now. You are in our hearts, our souls forever. And every time I see a new patient or take a walk in the woods or by the ocean from now on, I will keep an eye open for your footprints ahead of me to inspire me to be better and stronger like you always were.

Love,

Michael
