Margaret Bowe Obituary

BOWE Margaret Mary (Sissy) Bowe, age 96, of Stratford, died Sunday, March 19, 2006 at Lord Chamberlain Health Care Center, Stratford. Born in Waterbury, June 15, 1909 beloved daughter of the Late Patrick F. and Anna Grattan Bowe. Margaret was a resident of Stratford most of her life. She graduated from Stratford High School class of 1926, being an accomplished musician Margaret was organist at both St. James Church, and Our Lady of Peace churches in Stratford. In 1932, Margaret was the first woman in Stratford to run for state office. Survivors include her brother, Thomas G. Bowe his wife, Ethel, of Stratford. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews, Mary Bowe Koechig and her husband, Marcus, Patrick Bowe and his wife, Meg, Peter Bowe and his wife, Katie, Francis Bowe and his wife, Beth, and Elizabeth Bowe Kenobe. Also missing her are great-nieces and great- nephews, Margaret Hageman, Sheila Hageman, Terzi, Akemi Kenobe, Nathaniel, Miles, Annie, Andrew, Mary Hannah, and Thomas H. Bowe; and great-great-niece, Genevieve Terzi. Margaret was predeceased by her brother, Francis P. Bowe; and a nephew, Thomas J. Bowe. Margaret was a member of St. James parish for over 80 years and was a member of St. Patrick Parish in Juno Beach, Fla. Her love and devotion to her faith and Church were always an inspiration to those who knew her. Friends are invited to attend her funeral on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. from the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford, and at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Dear Mary, Peggy, Sheila and

Mr & Mrs Bowe,

Please accept our condolences on the death of Sissy. We know how much you loved her and what a great influence she was on your lives.

We fondly remember stopping at her cottage in Lordship and having the most wonderful conversations with her. What a fantastic lady !

She was an inspiration to us all.
