Mchael Solenzio Obituary

SOLENZIO Mchael A. Solenzio, age 89, of Huntington section of Shelton, beloved husband of the late Jeanne Pina Solenzio, entered into rest on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at Connecticut Hospice of Branford. Michael was born on May 24, 1918 in New York, N.Y. and was the son of the late Anthony and Elvira Fanelli Solenzio. He was a retired insurance salesman for Metropolitan Life and a former owner of the Tru-Way supermarket in New York City. During his life he enjoyed golfing, bowling and doing crossword puzzles. He was a devout Republican, and he is fondly remembered as a family man and a quick-witted storyteller. Survivors include his sons, Stephen Solenzio of Branford and Michael Solenzio of South Windsor; two daughters, Barbara Peburn and her husband, Frank of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Claudette Espach and her husband, Don of Trumbull; his daughter-in-law, Christine Solenzio of Florida; 10 cherished grandchildren: Marc, Eric, Tara, Michelle, Gregg, Jaclyn, Craig, Dawn, Alison, and Jon; five great-grandchildren; a nephew Jimmy; and two nieces Lorraine and Jane; his good friend Alice Kuzma and many dear friends. Michael was pre-deceased by his son, Robert Solenzio; his second wife, Mary Isella; his grandson, Michael Espach, and three sisters: Lea Solenzio, Marie Solenzio and Margie Scholl. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. from the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery of Trumbull. Calling hours are on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Griffin Hospital 130 Division St., Derby, CT 06418 or the Connecticut Hospice of Branford 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
