Melba Jeffreys

JEFFREYS Melba Jeffreys, age 50, of Daly City, Calif., formerly of Bridgeport, died on Friday, May 30, 2003, at her home. Born in Mecklenburg County, Va., she had been a resident of Bridgeport for 21 years before moving to Los Angeles and then to San Francisco. She was employed as a secretary with LSG Skychef in Los Angeles for 15 years, and was a member of Liberty Tabernacle Ministries in California. She is survived by her daughter, Raquel Jeffreys-McCray (Robin) of Daly City; her mother, Melba Finley Hudley of Bridgeport; three brothers, Tyrone Jeffreys of New Haven, and Ralph and Frederick Jeffreys of Bridgeport; three sisters, Barbara Jeffreys, Diane Artis and Alva Jeffreys of Bridgeport; her former companion, Eugene Henderson of Bridgeport; and a host of nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be held Saturday at noon in the chapel of Morton's Mortuary Inc., 25 Margaret E. Morton Lane, Bridgeport, with the Rev. Woodrow McCochran officiating. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. until noon at the funeral home.
