Michael Clay Obituary

CLAY Michael R. Clay, age 49, of Long Hill Avenue, Shelton, entered into rest on Monday, April 7, 2008, at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. He is the beloved husband of 30 years to Martha (Pitoniak) Clay. Michael was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on November 20, 1958, son of the late Richard V. and Theresa (Ellebrecht) Clay, and lived in Bridgeport before moving to Shelton over 25 years ago. He worked for the Metro-North Railroad for 28 years, and was the director of Fleet Management Mechanical Department. He belonged to the Presidents Club at Metro-North, and was also an avid model railroader. Most of all he was a devoted husband and father. He is the beloved father of Michael J. Clay, Courtney L. Clay, and Alexandra N. Clay. He is also survived by a sister, Kathleen Schwartz; beloved brothersin-law and sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Stephen R. Clay. Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. On Thursday his funeral procession will prepare to leave the Riverview Funeral Home at 10 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Shelton. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton. At the request of the family memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the American Red Cross, Valley Chapter, 2A Francis Street, Derby, CT 06418.
