Michael Ingrassia. Obituary

INGRASSIA Michael J. Ingrassia., age 74, of Monroe , beloved husband of Verna Palmer Ingrassia, entered into rest on Monday, June 4, 2007 at St. Raphael's Hospital in New Haven. Michael was born on February 19, 1933 in Bridgeport, and was the son of the late Andrew and Jennie (Pavone) Ingrassia. Mr. Ingrassia was a self-employed Hair Stylist for many years. He served with pride, honor and distinction in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Michael was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Pope John the 23rd Council and the VFW of Monroe. He was a former active member of the Cosmetology Association of America. Survivors in addition to his devoted wife, Verna include, his beloved children, a son, Michael A. Ingrassia and his fianc, Elizabeth of Oxford; two daughters, Lynn Wasik and her husband, Joseph of Newtown, and Lisa Bishop and her husband, James of Monroe; a brother, Peter Ingrassia and his wife, Helen of Trumbull; two sisters, Caterina Banks and Benedetta "Bessie" Ingrassia, both of Bridgeport; three cherished grandchildren, Dale and Gwendolyn Bishop and Alexis Wasik; and several nieces and nephews; Michael was pre-deceased by two brothers, Frank and Joseph Ingrassia. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 9 a.m. from the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home 315 Monroe Tpke., Monroe and at 10 a.m. in St. Jude's Church of Monroe with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery of Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday (today) from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Dennis Banks, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06897-2523 or the ASFSR (Scleroderma) in honor of Joy Lo Schiavo, 3333 Main St., Stratford, CT 06614.
