Paul Botosani Obituary

Botosani, Paul Roger P.
Paul Roger Popescu Botosani, PhD age 76 of Bridgeport entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport with the family at his side. Paul finish Dimitri Cantemir high school and Polytechnic University in Bucuresti. He was an innovator constantly evolving automation and robotics field in engineering. Paul held a doctors' degree in electronics and automation engineering. He was a kindhearted professor at BEI (Bridgeport Engineering Institute) and Fairfield University for over 30 years where he developed the first bachelor degree program in Automation/Automation Manufacturing in the USA. He was director of the Engineering Lab in Fairfield University. He worked in Bodine Corporation for 20 years as a chief engineer, designing the controls of many assemble machines. He also teach over the years in University of Bridgeport, Westchester Community College, Pace University, University of New Haven and Naugatuck Valley Community College. He was instrumental in getting started a manufacturing program in Housatonic Community College. Paul was the chair of Robotics Chapter SME, Chairman of student competition and organizer of ASEE meetings for 20 years, involved with CPEP, CCAT and COT. He also was member of Bridgeport Board of Education, in his time two high schools had been built.
Originally from Romania Paul was born in Paris, France on Wednesday, July 20, 1938 the son of the late Georges & Virginia Gancea Popescu Botosani. Paul is survived by: spouse, Lucia, three sisters, Maria Cristina of New York., Eugenia Mihaela of Italy, Claire of Bridgeport, CT., nephew, Cristian Craciun of Bridgeport, CT., several nieces and nephews from Romania and a host of extended family and friends.
Friends may greet the family Friday, March 20, 2015 from 10:00AM to 12:00 noon followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am at Community Funeral Chapels 798 Park Ave. Bridgeport, CT. Tel 203-334-9999. Interment will follow to Lakeview Cemetery 885 Boston Ave. Bridgeport, CT. Chris, I am very sorry to hear of the passing of your Uncle. During my 30+ years at BEI and then at Fairfield University Paul was always an understanding, caring, and professional teacher, engineer, and administrator. He was a dear friend to me and I will truely miss him.

Chris I am very sorry to hear of the passing of your Uncle. I considered him a friend. During my years at Fairfield he always made a point stop talk with me. Paul truely cared for each engineering student and offered any help.
