Paul Bova Obituary

BOVA Paul J. Bova, age 93 of Stratford, for 50 years the beloved husband of the late Margaret Bowes Bova, passed away peacefully in Bridgeport Hospital on February 13, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born to Antonio and Margaret Diblasi Bova on September 20, 1917. Paul lived his entire life in Stratford. Upon graduation from Stratford High School, Paul became employed by the Baird Machine Company and retired from their engineering department in 1983. During World War II, Paul enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He spent time in the Philippines and attended Naval Flight School at the Universities of Iowa and Nebraska. Being a man who was always willing to give of himself and of his time to others with a smile and a nod, Paul had been involved in a variety of activities throughout his life both at home, at work and at Our Lady of Grace Church where he had served as a Sunday Mass Commentator, as well as serving on various committees. Upon retirement, Paul enjoyed being together with Marge as well as spending time with his three grandchildren whom he adored. At this time, Paul became an avid and talented bird carver. Not only did his family cherish his works, but he also took pleasure in teaching his family and friends the art. Paul is survived by his loving daughter, Diane of Stratford and son, Robert (Holly) of Milford; and grandchildren, Kyle, Jaime and Ryan; his brother, Samuel of Stratford; and several nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his siblings, Paul, Louis, Joseph, Augusta, Marie (Chagnon) and Anthony. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Church Second Hill Lane, Stratford on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Per Paul's request, calling hours have been omitted. Anyone so desiring may make a memorial contribution to Our Lady of Grace Memorial Fund or VITAS Hospice Care, 99 Hawley Lanem both in Stratford. The William M. MacDonald Funeral Home of Stratford is in charge of arrangements.

Diane, Bob and family - I will miss your Dad so much. As a child, he was my hero. As an adult, he was someone to look up to with great respect. He was one of the kindness people I know. I will always remember his wonderful smile and gentle caring way.
