Paul Joseph Kish

Paul Kish Obituary

KISH Paul Joseph Kish, age 69 of Easton, passed away very peacefully at home after a brief illness Monday, December 22, 2008. His love of 28 years, Jerry, and his beloved dogs and cats were by his side. Throughout his illness, Paul was always strong and upbeat and always greeted his family with a warm smile. He owned and operated the Brook Caf in Westport. In the 1970s and 1980s, Paul was instrumental in advancing the causes of the gay community, including organizing fundraisers and raffles to benefit AIDS awareness. After the sale of the Brook Caf, Paul spent the next decade successfully running Flavor Burst, a sandwich and ice cream shop which originated in Norwalk and then moved to Derby. Paul will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his loving family. He is survived by his spouse, Jerry Kish; a daughter, Elaine Dunford and her husband, Brian of Bridgeport; a son, Brian Kish of Wisconsin; and a daughter-in-law, Ann Munley Kish of Plantsville. "Gramps" and "Poppy" will be especially missed by his three beautiful and loving grandchildren, Sean and Kelly Kish and Ethan Brian Dunford; his brothers, David Kish of Florida and Julius Kish of Massachusetts; a sister, Betty Griffin of Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Kish of Florida. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. in the Fairfield Funeral Home of Edmund W. Dougiello, 36 South Pine Creek Road. Because of Paul's strong love of animals, in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the ASPCA, Connecticut Humane Society or the Stratford Cat Project.

To Pau's Beloved Family and many, many friends:

Those of us who Paul befriended, and who are now scattered over many years and many miles, come together to share your sorrow and loss. A real friend is never lost if we can remember a laugh together, a problem shared and a hug when needed - or not. Hearing you are gone has only awakened some bittersweet, tucked away memories which always bring a smile to my face. You will be missed friend.

Jerry, Lainey, Brian and family,

I am so sorry for the passing of Paul. I know he put up a strong fight with his illness. Please have comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering and watching over his family.
Remember all the fun and happy times you shared with him. My Favorite story was when I met up with him ,Lainey, Brownie and Ethan in Florida. He was having a blast with everyone at Sea World zooming around in the scooter. :)
Good times, lots of laughs. Rest in Peace Paul... you will be missed!!

Jerry, Elaine & Brian,

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Paul was one of the finest, most fun-loving, people I've ever known. I will never forget his kindness towards me and for giving me my chance of fulfilling my dream of being a DJ.
