Raymond Pistey Obituary

Raymond F. Pistey, Jr.
Raymond F. Pistey, Jr., age 53, of Stratford, entered into eternal rest and peace at Connecticut Hospice on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in the arms of his loving family.
Ray was born in Bridgeport to Patricia (Connor) Pistey and Raymond F. Pistey. He was raised in Bridgeport and Trumbull and has been a Stratford resident for 32 years. He attended Trumbull High School and graduated from Milford Academy and Housatonic Community College. He started working at his family's business, Pistey Funeral Home when he was 12 years old, assisting in the parking lot and helping in whatever way possible, never complaining, always happy to help. Ray has been employed for many years at PRO Scientific in Oxford as a computer specialist. He became interested in computers in the 1980s and was mostly self-taught. Many people have relied on his expertise. He enjoyed the season tickets for the New England Patriots games that he attended with his father, brother and family friends. He was also a huge NY Yankees fan. Ray loved skiing and dirt bike trips with his brother and friends. Ray was a kind, intelligent and gracious person. He will be greatly missed and always remembered by his family and friends. Ray was especially devoted to his nieces and great-niece and great-nephew.
Survivors include his loving parents, Pat and Ray Pistey of Stratford; and devoted sisters and brother, Cindi Pistey of Stratford, Sharon Bennett and her husband, Jay, of Delray Beach, FL and Charles Pistey of Stratford; five beloved nieces, Lindsay Lancaster, Kayla Ursini, Brittany Ursini and Alyssa Ursini and Callie Bennett; cherished great-niece, Olivia Lancaster; cherished great-nephew, Patrick Kelly; uncle and aunt, Thomas and Sharon Connor of Beacon Falls; sister-in-law, Elin Pistey and her daughter, Allison; many cousins; and his faithful companion, Toto.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, St. Monica Mausoleum. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford. Those who so desire may make a contribution in his memory to St. Jude Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.

Dear Pistey Family,
I was so sad to learn about the untimely passing of your son and brother. I remember him as an adorable little boy at Fairfield Village Condominium where we (my late husband Irv and I) lived a few doors away from your family. I hope your pain can soon be replaced by fond memories.

Sincerely,

To the entire Pistey family, words cannot convey that sadness this news brought me. In the past, you have brought our family so much comfort during times of loss. My mother in law, Joan Devan, Ester Thiessen and countless others. In fact, Pat & Ray came to Meredith, NH to bring my mother in law, Joan Devan, back to her resting place in Stratford. For which we were very grateful. I can sympathize with your loss, as I lost my husband, Karl Devan on Oct 21, 2016 after battling cancer for 8 long years. It wasn't long after moving here that he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, and esophageal cancer was his final fight. He was 52 years old. My sympathy pours out to you all and may Ray Jr.rest in peace with all the lovely Angels. May peace & comfort help you thru this difficult time. With my most sincere sympathy to you all. Thank you for always being there for us. Most Sincerely, Nancy S.Devan 556 Whittier Rd, West Ossipee, NH. 03890

Ray was a fantastic person with a gigantic heart. He was happy to help everyone. He loved his family very much. He was a great son, uncle, brother and friend. There are no words that can heal the pain from the loss of a good friend, but his memories will live on forever. I will smile when I think of you, and cry because you are gone. Keep an eye on us Ray!
