Richard Frawley Obituary

Richard J. Frawley II
It is with great sadness that the family of Richard J. Frawley II, age 70, announce his soul's departure from earth on September 19, 2024, after a very short, unexpected battle with cancer.
Richard was born to the late Richard J. Frawley Sr. and Theresa June Frawley on November 5, 1953, in New Haven, CT.
He was the beloved husband of Kimberlee (Young) Frawley for 22 years.
Richard was known as Dick, by most of his friends, and Johnny by his family. He was quiet and kind, very thoughtful, and had a heart of gold! He devoted his life to helping others. If you had a need, he was there without hesitation and sometimes he would just show up, with his sleeves rolled up and ready to tackle and solve any problem!
In his youth, he was a motorcycle and boat enthusiast. He loved his Harley and would take his family and friends water skiing out into Long Island Sound off the Milford coast.
Years later, Dick built a beautiful home with his own hands in Durham, CT, together with his late wife, Joan (Chikla) Frawley.
Soon after, he had an opportunity from a friend to adopt his first Vizsla, and he fell in love with the breed. Dick went on to become a valued, lifetime member of the CT Valley Vizsla Club, participating in hundreds of field trials with many of his award-winning dogs for more than 40 years.
Dick's dedication to the sport gave him an opportunity to become a hunt test and field trial judge, a position he enjoyed for more than thirty years, while riding horseback.
He was a devoted employee of SNET/SBC/AT&T for 38 years, rising from Lineman to Area Manager and then promoted to Safety Manager, and earned many awards. He retired in 2015, having given only his best to his professional career.
After the death of his first wife, Dick learned to cook and quickly became an accomplished foodie, treating friends and family to his latest recipes and delicious pies made from the fruit and berries he grew in his yard. Blueberry was his favorite!
He was a self-taught woodworker and mechanic, always tinkering with any piece of equipment he thought he could fix, and most often was successful!
Richard was thrust into the role of caregiver many times in his life and was very supportive of his loved ones.
Dick could strike up a conversation with anyone and often had many stories to share with lots of humor, and this is how he caught the eye of his current wife, Kimberlee.
He gave his undying love to his four-legged "boys", Decker, DJ, Colby, Sam, Jack, Ben, Grady, Luke, Charlie and Jax. For a total of 10 Vizslas and Dick gave them all a wonderful life!
Right after moving to Broad Brook, CT, he was elected President of the Flaherty Field Trial Association and took on the responsibility of managing the maintenance of the Flaherty grounds for eight years with a dedicated passion, and was determined to make as many improvements as he could while working together with the State of CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
Dick was a lifetime member of the Wallingford Rod and Gun Club and established a kennel for breeding, called Clearidge Vizsla's. He was a member of the Bird Dog Foundation and a Flaherty Field Trial Association Representative for the CT Sportsman Advisory Board in Hartford.
A caring and generous soul with a steadfast moral compass, Richard walked this earth with a mission to touch and enrich as many lives as he could.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Karen DeLuca and husband Dave of Milford; brother, Robert Frawley of Middletown; cousin, Cheryl Hall of South Carolina; nieces, Damien DeLuca and Amber Deluca; nephew, Rob Frawley II; stepdaughter, Jaimee Dormer and husband Adam Lodynsky; stepson, Jeff Dormer; grandnieces, Victoria DeLuca and Londyn Pero and his grandnephews, Joel 'JJ' Torres and Greyson DeLuca.
Richard is also survived by his Chikla family, his beloved late mother-in-law, Rose Chikla; sisters-in-law, Roberta Chikla and her partner, Lois Longwell, Robin Richardson and her children, Samantha Richardson, her fiancé, Andrew O'Leary, and Jonathan and Mary Richardson and family.
Dick will be forever missed by his many wonderful, 'True Blue' friends… Sandy Kline, Kathy Mitchell, Jan Antonio, Cory Roy, Lisa Castaldi, Dave O'Brien, Leslie Hunt, Ann Kilpatrick and all his Flaherty friends.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held privately in his honor at a later date.
A donation to the CT Valley Vizsla Club would be greatly appreciated. Go to PayPal email: [email protected] . In Memory of Dick Frawley.

The obituary says it all, a fantastic compilation of Dicks personality. A man that I always hesitated to ask for help because he would jump right in and fix any problem you had. Always giving to others to make their day better. What a great man you are Richard. Till we meet again my friend.

It seems like yesterday, when Dicks wife Kim,introduced me to her husband. I remember him as an honorable and kind person, who was always willing to go the extra mile in helping people. He could discuss any topic from gardening to fixing things as he had a deep understanding of how things worked. He especially, liked taking his prized hunting dogs on long walks in the forest for exercise. These are some of the fond memories I have of Dick and will be sorely missed by all
