Fr. Shea was my freshman English teacher at NDHS in 1961. He was a tall skinny guy, with a bounce in his step, a little bit shy, however, friendly once he got to know you. We kept in touch after ND, and I was amazed at the transformation of the failing St. Joseph High School and the expansion of St Catherine of Sienna in Trumbull under his leadership. He knew how to get people involved in projects with the end result being a benefit to everyone. The last time I saw Fr. Shea was at a St. Patricks Scholarship Dinner several years ago, and as usual, it was an enjoyable visit. It always made me feel good to spend some time with him.
That tall skinny guy, from an Irish community in New York, came to Connecticut and had a great impact on the lives hundreds of people in our area. Thanks, Fr. Shea, you were a good friend as well as terrific guy.

I have good memories of Fr. Shea from the year he taught religion to our class of 1962 at NDHS. He seemed shy and a bit overwhelmed at the task of teaching religion to high school girls as his first assignment. I lost track of him as I went on to college and then life far from Connecticut. It sounds like he was a very effective minister of the Gospel and I pray that he rest in God now that his ministry on this earth has been completed.

Monsignor Shea was one of the finest priests I have ever known. I has been a friend since he approached me to be an altar server over sixty years ago. Throughout those years, we developed a friendship, for which I feel truly privileged. On Christmas Eve many years ago, Monsignor Shea bestowed upon me the most valuable gift I have ever received. As I was praying in the chapel before midnight Mass, he came in quietly-but his was not a presence easily overlooked-turned to me and said, "You need to discern the diaconate." I was ordained several years later. Serving as a deacon for Monsignor Shea was an honor and privilege; they were my most gratifying years of service. I am eternally grateful. Unfortunately, I did not become aware of Monsignor Shea´s passing until after his funeral. I regret deeply not flying out to pay my respects. My friend, priest, pastor and role model will always be in my prayers.

As a graduate of St Joesph, I remember Father Shea very well. He was always friendly and congenial to everyone. He has earned a special place in heaven. RIP

I went to Mass at St. Catherine's in the 60s and 70s and I always liked Fr. Shea's masses and sermons.
He was very down-to-earth and friendly.

Fr. Shea had a positive impact on me, when I attended Notre Dame High School. He was a cordial individual who took a sincere interest in the students. After I graduated, I paid him several visits during his assignment at the Notre Dame Girls facility. He generously took the time from his busy schedule to sit down, and chat. He was a special gift to the Notre Dame community.

Father Shea, as I knew him was a very young priest working with Father Halloran. He was very much admired by all. Well done Father Shea.
