Rita Ahern Obituary

Rita M. Ahern
Our world has lost a very bright light this week with the passing of Rita M. Ahern on Sunday, November 10, 2024. Rita was born in Bridgeport on July 7, 1950, to the late Martin (Buck) and Mary (Kearney) Ahern. She has been a lifelong resident of Stratford and graduated from Bunnell High School, class of 1969. Rita had many jobs over the years. She worked in Sales, Dog grooming, and as a HealthCare professional; before settling into her home at Sikorsky's where she worked for 35 years before retiring. Rita was a caregiver for our beloved Mother for many years. She was an animal lover and advocate for all animals. She leaves behind our precious Shadow and Bella. We are sure all our dear departed fur babies will be with her now. Rita was always proud of her Irish roots and was the keeper of our family history. No one knew it better than she did. She was also a longtime member of the Gaelic American club. Rita was a beautiful and compassionate human being, who was always ready to give of herself whenever needed. She was also very charitable as she gave to so many good causes over the years. We love her dearly and she will be missed by so many! Survivors include her loving and devoted siblings, Maureen Ahern of Stratford, Brian Ahern and his wife JoAnn of Orange, cherished nephews and nieces, Sean Ahern, Jeremy (Eva) Ahern, and Abby (Josh) Ahern, great-niece and great-nephews, Maybell, Hutton and Brenham. In Addition to her parents, Rita was predeceased by her loving brother, Tim Ahern and nephew, Gary Feather, who was also her Godson. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 11 a.m. meeting directly at Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford. Interment will be private.
