Dr. Fred Braun
December 22, 2024
Bob was a major figure in my life. He was the big brother that I never had. Bob was responsible for me a summer job as a bus boy at the Lake Tarleton Club resort which afforded me the opportunity to make enough money to buy my first car while I was a senior in Bassick high School, 1931 Buick for $50. My parents required that I had to have $500 in the bank in order to buy a car. Bob was also responsible for my getting the job as a bus driver in Yellowstone National Park. There are too many fond memories to list here.

I had Dr. Braun as my orthodontist when I was in 7th grade as well as my brother. He was so great with children who had to get braces. He was strict on following his rules on caring for your teeth but very kind.
My teeth to this day at 65 years of age are still perfect because of Dr. Braun. May his spirit of being a great orthodontist live in other ones that learned from this man.
I never forgot Dr. Braun.
Sincerely,
Michele L Masse

I was planning to attend services with my mother, Lisa Purdy, but I tested positive for Covid that day. To the Braun family - I loved spending time with your family (The Fourth, of course), and more importantly, I felt a kinship to your family in regard to nature. Your father was always an inspiration to me.

Dr. Robert Braun was my orthodontist, and as a child, my Dad would take me to his office in Stratfield. By sheer coincidence, my future husband, had a friend who was Dr. Braun's neighbor, and loved the house - we became the Braun families neighbors in 1989. Another fact is that my late Edna Mae Gorman Secskas, knew Robert Braun as they were in the same class at Bassick High School. Dr. Braun was an inspiration for us, our daughter, who is an expert bird photographer, learned much from the sanctuary and the nature reserve Braun created. His contributions will last for posterity. Rest in peace. Paul and Diane Lytwyn, Fairfield, CT

I have beautiful, straight teeth today thanks to braces applied by Dr. Braun over 40 years ago. Such a beautiful obituary on a great man! I wish I knew more of these facts when I was his patient. All I knew was that he was extremely gentle and kind. Thank you, Dr. Braun! My deepest condolences to his great family

Dr. Braun put in my braces when I was eleven years ago they were made out of metal. On the appt visits his kind words and feeling at ease, being sympathetic to the pain of the process of tightening them. There were a few weekend emergency visits my braces would pop. Dr Braun responded quickly to fix the problem. My parents and I were so grateful. I am a grown women now and complimented on my great smile and teeth. Thank you Dr Braun!. My condolences to the family of Dr Btaun.

Bob was my father´s best friend growing up. He was best man at my parent´s wedding and is part of many fond childhood memories. Our mom, Gloria, still tells stories of my dad and Bob (she also worked at Hatch´s Ice Cream Parlor). Bob was a kind and generous man. Condolences from the entire Bannay family. You are in our thoughts at this difficult time.

We never had the good fortune to meet Dr. Braun, but through our friendship with his daughter Kathy, we´ve heard many wonderful tales of his love for his family, his kindertransport experience in coming to America, his love of nature, and his desire to make life better for all of Fairfield.
RIP, Dr. Braun, you´ve had a life well lived.
