Robert Duguay Obituary

DUGUAY Robert Rene Duguay, age 88, of Middletown, died on Sunday, October 12 at Yale-New Haven Hospital of heart disease. He was the loving husband for 40 years of the late Eileen (Wheelan) Duguay, who died in 1986. Bob was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, to the late Arthur and Linda (Maurice) Duguay, and lived for many years in Providence and Stratford, . President of his class at Mount Pleasant High School, Providence, Class of 1940, Bob was a World War II Veteran who proudly served as an Army Air Force Navigator and a Second Lieutenant in the South Pacific. He attended Brown University after the war on the GI Bill. Bob managed the experimental tool room at Avco Lycoming for thirty years. He was the last President of Stratford Cupheag Social Club, a member of Mill River Country Club, and a member of the Holy Name Society of St. James Church. Bob was a keen card player, an avid golfer, and a long time faithful blood donor to the American Red Cross. Bob was generous, kind and devoted to family and friends. Bob is survived by a loving and devoted family which includes his children, Bob and Lucille Duguay of Simsbury, Bonnie and Bill Penders of Durham, Linda Duguay and Ray Wood of Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, Kate Duguay and Kevin Chase of Glastonbury and Pat and George Kachmar of Punta Gorda, Florida; fifteen grandchildren, Rachel Duguay of Honolulu, HI, Annie Duguay of Toronto, ON, Phil Duguay of Montreal, QC, Rob Duguayof Brooklyn,NY, Betsy Flanagan of Madison, Suzie Hinsdale of Missouri City, TX, Kate Lamin of Stamford, Bill Duguay of Ansonia, Robert Duguay of Providence, RI, Monte and Bridghet Wood of Honey Brook, PA, John, Maggie and Julie Chase of Glastonbury, Dan Kachmar of Punta Gorda, FL; and seven great-grandchildren, Jack, Will, Patrick and Katie Flanagan, Mazzie and Rose Hinsdale, and Olivia Lamin; one sister, Lucille Gearyof Providence, RI; many nieces and nephews; and very dear friends Carolyn and Dick Ross and Bob Sebas. In addition to his wife Eileen, Bob was predeceased by his son and daughter-in-law, Dick and Kathy (Carr) Duguay; brothers, Roland, Joseph, and Richard Duguay; and sister, Theresa Leduc. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Friday, October 17, 2008 at 9:45 a.m. in the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main St., Stratford and at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church, Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private. Friends may call Thursday from 4 - 7 p.m. Those who wish may make donations in Bob's memory to Stratford Little League, PO Box# 605, Stratford, CT 06615.
