Robert Sheiman Obituary

Robert Aaron Sheiman, M.D.
Novemebr 17, 2021
Dr. Robert Sheiman passed away peacefully November 17, 2021, with his loving wife Ellen by his side. He leaves to mourn his death his adoring wife, a brother Stuart Sheiman, and two grieving children, David Sheiman and his wife Caroline and their 2 children Gennie and Marion, and his daughter Rebecca Kern and her husband Rabbi Dovid Kern and their 8 children Sarah, Moshe, Yehuda, Shimon, Eliyahu, Benjamin, Nechama and Yakov. He also leaves many cousins and friends to mourn his passing.
Robert was an amazingly intelligent individual. He attended college, medical school and residency at The University of Michigan and completed internships and specialty studies at Hahnemann College and Philadelphia General. In the middle of his studies he proudly served his country in the Navy for two years aboard a ship in the Mediterranean.
He met his beloved wife Ellen shortly after returning to his home area and opening his own private medical practice. His practice spanned 55 years, first in Bridgeport, then in Stratford, CT. He was affiliated for many years with St. Vincent's Hospital and ran a TB clinic for the State of CT as well. Robert truly loved the practice of medicine and treated all his patients as if they were family members. They never felt rushed, they knew he cared deeply about them and in appreciation many patients stayed with him over extended years.
But above all, Robert was a family man who simply enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. His greatest joy was bragging about their accomplishments, being proud of all the different paths they chose as their own. He was also a stalwart football fan, especially of the Univ. of Michigan. Not athletic himself, he was a powerhouse of football trivia and loved to analyze all the plays. He also loved cowboy movies. Relaxing with the old cowboy movies was his favorite way to spend a quiet evening as an empty nester.
His greatest regret toward the end of his life was that he would not live to see his children continue to flourish, or follow his grandchildren and the new lives they would make for themselves. He was the rock of his family and a hole is left with his passing that will never really be filled.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, CT, with interment following at Hebrew Sick Benefit Association Cemetery, 1400 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield. The family wishes to thank everyone at the St. Vincent's Cancer Center and all those at Cambridge Manor in Fairfield for the kind and dedicated care they provided to Robert during his cancer battle.

Remembering Dr Shieman on the anniversary of his death. He was the best Doctor. So down to earth and easy to talk to. So appreciated the time he took to explain and answer any question. He was a blessing to my family. May his soul be resting in peace. My condolences to family

My deepest sympathies to Bob's family. As a doctor and even more as a friend, he provided great care for my wife, Pat, until her passing and for myself as well.
