Roberto Palumbo Obituary

Roberto Leonardo Palumbo
Roberto Leonardo Palumbo, age 52, of Bridgeport, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 12, 2024 in the comfort of his home. Born on December 6, 1971 in Bridgeport, he was the youngest son of the late Vincent A. (Rusty) and Vincenza Basile Palumbo. Robert was a graduate of St. Ambrose School, Kolbe Cathedral High School and was formerly a member of Local 91 Union of Elevator Constructors. Robert was a very outgoing and caring person and also had a soft spot for animals of all kinds. His family and friends affectionately referred to him as "Dr. Doolittle," since he had many pets and always took care of the neighborhood strays. He was also a talented artist. An avid Dallas cowboy fan, he enjoyed watching soccer. But above all things, family was everything to Robert. He looked forward to Sunday dinners and holidays spent with family, making memories to last a lifetime. Rob loved spending time with his nephew and niece and always spoiled them to no end. He was a loving brother, uncle, nephew and cousin. Though his passing was unexpected, he left a legacy of love and will be missed by many.
Survivors include his loving sister and brother, Maria Matarazzo and her husband Ralph of Bridgeport and Anthony Palumbo and his wife Michele of Ansonia, a cherished nephew and niece, Gino and Elisa Palumbo; aunts and uncles, Assunta Palumbo, Cristina Sementilli and her husband Mario, Armando Palumbo and his wife Rose, Fred Palumbo, Rosetta Basile, Cecilia Palumbo, Giuseppina Caputo, and Nina Paolella, as well as several cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents Alfonso and Filomena Palumbo and Leonardo and Maria Basile, an uncle, Secondino Palumbo and cousins David Palumbo and Lily Pirulli.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Ansonia. Interment will be private. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Robert's memory to a charity of one's choice. To leave an online condolence please visit www.abriola.com.

My favorite memory of Robert was when I lived with Donna and one summer after my daughter Tatiana went to college I came home to find Robert in the backyard with a pile of found items, telling us he was going to set up a pool!
I admit... I was skeptical! But two days later, we had an above ground pool! With a lighthouse shaped light and a rickety ladder to get in! But he did it!! And we enjoyed it and while the pool didn´t last long, the memories certainly will.
Thank you Robert. You saw what could be and you made it reality... you went too soon. I hope you continue to make beautiful art out of found objects.
