Ruth A. Levine

LEVINE Ruth A. Levine of Trumbull, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2008 after a valiant struggle against and impassioned resistance to what became inevitable. Mrs. Levine was born in Bridgeport, a daughter of the late Paul and Frances Zabin. Ruth graduated from Bassick High School, Boston University and taught at the Post School in Wilton and Philadelphia. She lived with her husband in Heidelberg Germany and traveled extensively throughout Europe in a VW Camping Bus. She was a member of Congregation Rodeph Sholom where she served on the Board, and taught at the Nursery School, dear to her heart because she herself was in the first class in 1949. She was a life member of Hadassah, worked at the Hall Neighborhood House and for OxfordHealth/United Health Care. Ruth is survived by beloved husband Jack Levne DDS; daughters, Jessica Levine, Sara Levine Rigel and her husband, Andrew, all of Seattle; brother and sister-in-law, Joel and Elly Zabin of Bridgeport, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda and Robert Reger of New Haven; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Sharon Levine of Kentucky. Adored Aunt of Joshua and Val Zabin, Alexander Reger, Jonathan and Tracy Zabin, Beth and Ben Birenbaum, Meryl and Matt Weinberg; great aunt to Kallie, Seth and Eli Zabin. Cousin to Zabins, Smalls, Rabitz, Cohen, and Brauner Families. Devoted daughter-in-law of Laura Levine. A loving extended family of cousins and friends who will keep her spirit alive. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday May 6, 2008 at 12 p.m. from The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home 88 Beach Road in Fairfield, with interment following at Rodeph Sholom Memorial Park on Kings Hwy. in Fairfield. Shiva will be observed at the Levine residence in Trumbull.
