Ryszard Iwaszkiewicz, 78 of Easton and the beloved husband of Cecylia (Gosk) Iwaszkiewicz, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Kajnity, Poland to the late Edward and Leokadia (Czaplinski) Iwaszkiewicz and came to the United States in 1965. Within a year, he brought his parents and five siblings to Connecticut.
Ryszard worked first as a tool-and-die maker in Bridgeport before learning construction and homebuilding from his brother-in-law. Eventually, he started his own successful roofing and siding business. Ryszard enjoyed fishing and reading, especially about history, and he loved spending time with his family, friends, and loved ones.
In addition to his wife, Ryszard is survived by his three loving children, Violetta Iwaszkiewicz Bauks and her husband Jesse of Easton, Dariusz Iwaszkiewicz and his wife Rebecca of Woodbridge, and Jaremi Iwaszkiewicz of Easton. He will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Natalie, Hannah, and Benjamin Iwaszkiewicz, and Olivia and Adam Bauks. Ryszard leaves behind four brothers, Krzysztof Iwaszkiewicz of Milford, Wojciech Iwaszkiewicz of Fairfield, Marek Iwaszkiewicz of Stratford, Wieslaw Iwaszkiewicz of Monroe, and his sister Brygida Iwaszkiewicz Voll of Florida. He also leaves behind dozens of nieces, nephews, and cousins in the U.S. and in his beloved Poland.
Friends may greet his family on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, 310 Pulaski St. in Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery.
