Sally Merly Obituary

MERLY Sally Merly, age 98, of Bridgeport, the beloved wife of the late Joseph E. Merly a local building contractor, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at St. Vincent Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Sally was born in Manhattan, New York City where she launched her stage career at an early age and lived in Connecticut most of her life. She loved entertaining, singing and dancing and believed that singing could solve all and was a lead vocalist for senior groups, including the Black Rock Tappettes. She was a long time member of the Federation of Democratic Women. She loved playing bingo, traveling with senior groups and cherished her family. Survivors include her loving children, Thomas Merly, Richard Merly, Lawrence Merly and wife, Marie and Pamela Merly; 35 grandchildren; and great-grand-children. She was prede-ceased by a son, Ronald Merly. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday November 7, 2009 at 9 a.m. DIRECTLY in St. Ann's Church, 481 Brewster St. Bridgeport, with a Mass of the Christian Burial. Interment in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent Foundation, Swim Across the Sound, 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT 06606. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Avenue, Bridgeeport. www.parentelauro.com.

My deepest Condolences go out to the Merly Family, although I haven't seen Mrs. Merly in years, I have fond memories of her living across the street from me when I was a little girl. I would visit with her often and play with her dog Pepper. She was a wonderful neighbor. God Bless
