Sophie Rochniak

ROCHNIAK Mrs. Sophie Rochniak, age 90, of Milford, beloved wife of the late William F. Rochniak, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2005, at St. Vincent Medical Center, Bridgeport. Daughter of the late Stanley and Eleanor Bogdanski Popielarczyk, she was born on June 6, 1914, in East Hampton, Mass. She was a longtime resident of Bridgeport, before moving to Milford in 1978. Mrs. Rochniak worked at Bridgeport Hospital before her retirement. She was a parishioner of St. Michael's The Archangel Church, Bridgeport, for many years. Mrs. Rochniak is survived by a devoted son, Stanley Rochniak of Milford; four grandchildren, William Rochniak, and his wife, Ingrid, of Crested Butte, Colo., Edward Rochniak, of Milford, Steven Rochniak, and his wife, Andrea, of Ansonia, John Rochniak, and his wife, Paula, of Wallingford; five great-grandchildren, Sarah, Kristin, Dilon, Michelle, and Julie; a sister, Helen Sawicki, of Milford; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Edward J. Rochniak; two brothers, Stanley Popielarczyk, and his wife, Stella, Chester Popielarczyk; and two sisters, Mary and Stephanie Popielarczyk. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at 9:30 a.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Michael's The Archangel Church, Bridgeport. Interment in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
