Stephen Link Obituary

Link, Stephen J.
Stephen J. Link, 75, of Norfolk, CT, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015, in Winsted, CT. Stephen formerly lived in Easton,Connecticut for 25 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Regina E. Link; his older brother Richard A. Link; four children, Regina Lane, Stephen "Stevie" Link, Jr., Christopher Link, Trent Link; and four grandchildren, Kenny, Courtney, Brandon and Kendra. He was predeceased by his parents, Irene Koteles Link and John Link, Sr., and his older brother John J. Link, Jr. Born on November 9, 1939, in Bridgeport, CT, Stephen was raised in Fairfield, CT, and graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School, Class of 1958. Stephen spent his childhood and boyhood in Fairfield, especially loving his time at Jennings and Sasco Beaches, where he was a life-guard during the 1950s. Stephen met his future wife Regina in NJ, where he went to college. Following his graduation, he embarked on a career in education, working first as a teacher and then as a guidance counselor for the Newtown School System. Stephen was passionate about antiques, civil rights and traveling. Being a life-long Anglophile, he made dozens of trips to the UK, even feeling comfortable enough driving on a "wrong side" of the road. Stephen and his wife Regina were very much in love with each other, which was evident to all, who spent any time around them; they enjoyed each others company and loved entertaining their friends at their lovely home. Stephen will be missed by his family and friends. He will be buried next to his parents and his brother, in Bridgeport, CT, later this Spring in a private ceremony. A memorial service celebrating his life is expected to take place in Norfolk, CT, in June 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), 1-866-386-3235, www.adl.org or Friends of Israel, 1-800-257-7843, www.foi.org

I wish to express my deepest appreciation and sincerest gratitude to all of our relatives and friends for your thoughtfulness and kindness expressing your sympathy in our darkest hour. Stephen was one in a million...a dream in a million come true to myself and my children who loved and respected him unconditionally. As a person of uncompromising integrity an noble deeds, Stephen was the moral standard of our family. He was exemplary in his love and devotion to his parents, wife, and children. He respected and fulfilled every expectation of his Christian faith and the Masonic Rite when he served as chaplain. WE WILL LOVE FOREVER...UNTIL FOREVER IS GONE! LOVINGLY, REGINA

When our father was 8 years old, his father ( John J. Link Sr. )had him memorize OH CAPTAIN! MY CAPTAIN! by Walt Whitman. This poem was prophetic, expressing the love between a father and son, and the inevitable rupture of that relationship in death, and the expression of profound grief and sorrow. The unconditional love and spirituality shared between my grandfather and father is a tribute to their deep beliefs in the precepts of Christianity and eternal life. For grandfather and his beloved son, Stephen, have "fallen cold and dead". We pray the spirituality of their loving relationship be honored in Christ and conscience as his wife , Regina, and loving children suffer the loss of their CAPTAIN and DEAR FATHER.WE will be missing you every day Dad, because we love you and know how much you loved us ! And with your final breath to mom... " Tell each of my children I love them ". Your loving children, Regina,Stevie and Trent

IN BETTER TIMES,WHEN OUR HEARTS WERE STILL FREE OF TROUBLES

Well finally got this done.A sad thing indeed, but better late than never.I am sure my grandfather John Link Sr. will have a few things to say to Steve when they meet up on the other side of eternity. This week it was 20 years since the passing of my beloved grandmother Irene Link,Steves mother.
She passed away April 4th 1995,peacefully, at home, surrounded by family.I hope the passing of time will allow those of lesser concern in my family,to have the opportunity to reflect, and think upon the true meaning of life's lessons.
Some I know are absent of faith ,making their own way thru the abyss of ones own conscience, and without a relationship with the Lord.May God open their hearts and minds,it's never too late for the living, but the choice to embrace the Lord Jesus Christ is a choice each man or woman must make....Rest in Peace Steve.....Christopher Link
