...deepest sympathy and prayers for the Owens family. Tim (as a true levite) taught me how to play piano and organ. His skill and time that he spent with me paved a successful career in Gospel and live performance. I only wish he could see what his effort has produced. I remember my parents would always talk about him at Pitney Bowes in Shelton, CT in the 90's and how funny he was! Aside from funny...he was annointed to play. We love you Tim...

Words cannot describe my feelings over the loss of Tim Owens. He was an annoited musician, a good friend, a man that could make a dog laugh!!! Most important, he was a child of GOD. I will miss him ,but also rejoice that he is safe in the arms of GOD. I will miss our talks, the serious ones and the humorous ones, both of which were very important to us. The C.O.P. church family chain has been broken, but we will trust in GOD

Dear Mother Owens & Owens Family,
As you know, Timmy was like a brother to Joel and I for many, many years. "It's hard to say goodbye to yesterday." Timmy's remarkable characteristics will be greatly missed. The word of God has comforted us and our prayer is that it does the same for you. Lift up your eyes to the hills from whence cometh your help, for your help cometh from the Lord. Our family will miss him tremendously, but we believe he is in a peaceable habitation. Therefore, we have peace and believe that we will see him again!

To The Entire Owens Family:
I am one of the choir directresses from First Baptist Church and worked closely with Tim. He is truly anointed and could hear a song once and play it like he wrote it. I used to joke with him to sing for me and he would say nah, nah, singing ain't my thing. I don't think there can ever be another musician that will take his place in my book. It seems strange for him not to be sitting at the piano. But we also talked about heaven and how I'm going to direct the heavenly choir. He's getting them ready for me right now. Tim will be missed by many and his home going celebration showed his life’s testimony. I will be praying for your family’s strength in the Lord. Keep you hand in the Master's hand as Tim did and we will see him on the other side.
Your Sister in Christ: Lynn Nesmith

Tim,
I have learned so much from you over the years. Our journey and friendship began when I was a teenager and you would come over to teach me the wedding march. How you would show me the chords, play them and them have me play it back to you. Every time I hit the wrong notes, you would come over and place each one of my fingers on the correct keys and then say "play it again". I thank you for your time, patience and encouragement. I have grown even more over the past 11 years as you have taught me different chords/songs, given me advice on how to handle different situations and just simply watching how you carried yourself. It has been a humbling experience to play beside my childhood idol. I am going to miss playing with you especially on Men's Day. Rest in peace my brother. I will see you again. Mother Owens and family, you are in my prayers.

To the Owens family, you have my deepest sympathy. Be encouraged in the Lord.

Timmy will truly be missed. He was a true friend. I remember some twenty something years ago, when I first came to Bridgeport, Timmy was one of the first people to show himself friendly. He always had a smile. He loved to kid around and he could make you laugh endlessly. Although he kidded a lot, he was always serious about the Lord, church , and salvation.

Timmy had a heart of gold and he was a master musician as we can all attest to.

I consider it a pleasure to have known Prof. Timothy B. Owens. One of God's servants.

God Bless!

TO THE OWENS FAMILY,
Let me begin by saying we all lost a friend, a son a brother, a father we are all going to miss Tim one of the things that come to my mind right now is that Tim was definitely always the same he always had a kind word for you and he knew how to pay you a compliment, and if he didnt get a chance to pay you that compliment he would be sure the next time he seen you to point out to you that you looked nice on that particular day. I am greatful that I was apart of the legacy that he left at COP we will never be the same. I pray that God will comfort you during this time and that you know earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. God Bless You!!!

Belynda Norris-Brunson

May 12, 2009

To Mother Owens, Tim Jr., Dwayne, Jerome, Faith, entire family & friends. Also, to the COP, Full Gospel and First Baptist church families.

This one was an extremely hard hit. I want to believe that Timmy is just being silly and playing a joke on all of us, but reality has set in and unfortunately for us, this is real. Timmy was such a fun, yet serious, and at times a very silly individual. He was unique in his own way, very supportive to other musicians, encouraging to friends and faithful to churches he worked for. Not always did he get the due respect and recognition he so deserved as an extremely talented musician, but now he is in a place where he will receive all the rewards for his faithfulness for services rendered. I pray God’s strength for the entire family and all of us that knew him because Tim had affected the lives of so many people. He was one who always made his presence known, whether through his words, his talent, his smile, his laugh, his jokes and sometimes through his loud color suits with matching shoes. I say to all, be encouraged and know that God will comfort us all. This is truly a time where this phrase is so real “Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal”. Rest in peace my friend, you will be truly missed. Belyn

Most of the time I go to funerals with a heavy heart when I read the obiturary. It list what they did, where they lived and so on. So many people leave this world not accomplishing half of there purpose or gifts.... But with Brother Timmy...... I was glad. He knew and fullfilled his purpose, he blessed us with his gifts. I seen and felt the love in the Homegoing Service. He was such a comedian a real down to earth person. It gave me insight that as a Christian. We must show fruit and be fruit at all times.. It's true that the life you live on Earth, will speak for itself when we our called to Heaven. May God comfort you and keep you. He's home with the Lord. Our prays go out to the entire Owens family at large.

Sincerly,

It is not often in this life that you find an individual who is always positive and up beat. One who greets you with a smile and a kind word. Gifted yet humble and touchable. The life of the party yet still Godly. Honest yet sensitive to your feelings. How can you not miss such an individual. I will miss Tim Owens dearly. My prayer is that God pour out some of the fruit of Tim's labor upon his Family and Loved ones and that his Grace and Peace be multipied unto all of his loved ones in the days to come. Let us all be comforted by our memories of Tim.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Mother Owens & Family,

During this difficult time, I am praying for you and your family. I never called him Tim, I met Timmy many years ago at Full Gospel. Even then (in his early teens) he was quite the musician. Timmy always wore a smile and was always pleasant.

I can't imagine that it makes the loss of Timmy any easier but knowing that he touched the lives of so many people in a positive way through his music ministry is a wonderful memory.

I pray for your strength during this time.

I first met Tim at Parris Island South Carolina, I didn't know Tim growing up in Bridgeport. I haven't seen Tim since we graduated from Marine Corp Basic Training. But I can tell you he made a lasting impression upon me, I have often wondered what he was doing and how his life had turned out. I can see from the many postings he touched many lives and made this world a beter place for all that he came in contact with. We all can only pray that we make an impact that Tim has made. Tim, thank you for your kind heart and giving nature, you made an impact on my life without knowing it. My prayers are with the Owens and Gardner family. To the Owens Family:
My prayers and sympathy go out to you. Though Timmy had his own church home, he was always welcomed and at home everywhere he went. I realize that ultimately, he belongs to God - but here on earth, he seemed to belong to the Universe - that's how loved he was and how blessed we were. Whether at a function, a church, the bowling alley or just in passing, I always looked forward to his bright smile and conversation. As well as being a gentleman, he was so gifted and was truly a gift to us all. Timmy will be sorely missed from our midst, but I believe he will continue to be a blessing beyond and will brighten that Heavenly Home with his awesome talent, his dedicated service and his contagious smile. May you all find peace, comfort and healing.

God has Bless our lives, to past in this world. And on my path of this life;I have met: Timmy Owens. We had grown up in the church; I played the drums, and Tim the organe within T.F.T. and we use to visit eachothers homes, as childern with our grandmothers; (Mother Evanly Green.) and Mother:Louise Owens.
In hearing that my Brother has been called on, to play the organe for God.I took that moment of shock, and rested with a smile; because my Brother is all right, and playing a Beauitful organe for the Lord.
I am sure that, all who have been enlighten with the sounds that our brother would play as he play all the gospel, jazz, some funk, and just music that "You" would be bless with: thats the Timmy we'll miss, that Big smile he'd give, playing basket ball,or just talking to the brother; but he'll be there playing, when we are bless to walk with him againe. Words can not express the pain I feel due to the lost of my brother and friend. I've knew Timmy for over thirty years. I have so many fond memories to cling to. The number of time he came home with the family for Sunday dinners. My father leaving him many times at church because Timmy would be Timmy talk to someone. The smile, and jokes will be missed but never forgotten. Who will make us laugh when Bishop or another preacher say something that makes us say ouch.

Tim thanks for the years we had together. How you encourage me (when I was going through)where ever you seen me. I will miss your smile, your laugh, and your gesture. I just hope that I've shown you how much I loved you.

To Mother Owens you know that God will bring you through this. You have taught the Word, and encourage many for years, now it our time to encourage you. Remember earth has no sorrow that Heaven can't heal.

To the children, I've been there so I know what it feels like to loose your dad at a young age. It not a good feeling, but God help me through it. When you feel like crying go ahead and cry. God understand your tears. Your dad love each of you. Hold on to the memories of Him.

To COP we lost another deal soul. Our servces will never be the same. Many of us had an opportuntity to know Tim for the entire time he play for TFT/COP. We all have so many memories. Let us thank God for the time that he was with us. Yes know that no one could play like Tim. We will miss that old skool playing. God needed another musician for his band. We will get through this together. You all are in my prayers

May the grace of God comfort, sustain and strengthen you during this difficult time. Remeber God's grace is sufficent and he promised he would never leave us or forsake us. It is in times like these, when it seems like the prints in the sand may indicate that he has left us but he is really carrying us. Bro.
