Valenti, Vincent J.
Vincent James Valenti (Vinny/Jim), age 85, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at his home in Palm Bay, Florida, with his devoted wife, Betty, by his side. Other favorite pastimes included yard work, doing jigsaw puzzles and visits to Ballard Parkin Florida. Above all else, Vin's greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his family. Vinny was married to Betty Jane Fritz Cotton on July 23, 1960. They were married 52 years. In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his children, Jimmy Valenti (Vincent James Jr) and his wife June, of Southbury; Robert Valenti and his wife Anna, of Derby; Janet Kramka and her husband Peter, of Trumbull; Jamey Barone and her husband Nick, of Barrington, NH; stepdaughter Beverly Cotton Hansberger and her husband Paul, of Worthington, Minnesota; stepson Fred Cotton and his wife Pat, of Branford; two sisters, Nancy Kopec and her husband Gene, of Derby, and Josephine Rebensky and her husband Richard, of Palm Bay, Florida; 15 grandchildren to whom hewas lovingly known as Gramps or Papa Vin, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his older siblings, Anthony Valenti, Philip Valenti and Anna Angelone, and his granddaughter, Shelly Valenti. Friends are invited to join the family at a memorial service in celebration of his life at Trinity Baptist Church, 300 North Benson Rd. in Fairfield at 6:30 PM on Monday, April 22. Reverend David DeVries will be officiating. An interment with military honors will follow at a later date with the immediate family.
