Walter Wolfertz Obituary

Walter P. Wolfertz
October 29, 2024
Walter Peter Wolfertz, lovingly known as "Big Pete", 81, of Burlington, formerly of Huntington, beloved husband of Joanne Repasky Wolfertz, passed peacefully Tuesday morning, October 29, 2024, at his home. He was the son of the late Walter and Mabel (Heine) Wolfertz.
Pete attended the University of Bridgeport and the Williams School of Banking. He was employed initially by the Connecticut National Bank, Shawmut Bank, Fleet Bank, and Bank of America until his retirement, 26 years ago. Throughout the years, he was recognized as a beloved manager and Vice President. After his retirement from banking, Pete founded and operated successful contracting firms in painting and landscaping with his son, Brett.
Always involved as a loving dad, he coached many sports for his children throughout the years. Passionate, would be the word to describe his support for the UCONN Women's Basketball team, and the NY Yankees, but most of all, in Big Pete's support of his two grandchildren in their own sports and activities. Pete also had a love for big cars, especially big Buicks and Oldsmobiles.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Kristyn Skibisky, and her husband Steele, of Burlington; and his grandchildren Nicholas Skibisky, and Brooke Skibisky, who was born on Big Pete's 70th Birthday. He was predeceased by his son Brett Wolfertz.
