William Cioffi Obituary

CIOFFI William (Willy) Cioffi, age 60 of Stratford, entered into rest peacefully on Friday, December 21, 2007 with his loving family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Bridgeport on December 8, 1947, he was the son of the late Victor and Anna (DeMasi) Cioffi. Willy graduated from Bullard Havens Technical School and was the superintendent at MacKenzie Painting Company, his employer for 40 years. Willy had a strong passion for sports. He played softball in his early years and was an avid football fan. He also was a Friday night poker player at the Marchegiana Italian Club for many years. He was a very generous, sincere, compassionate, caring man with a quick wit, keen sense of humor and a love for animals. Willy's cherished family and friends are blessed with so many wonderful memories he leaves behind. He enriched the lives of all who knew him and he will always be remembered for the love and dedication he selflessly gave to each and every one of them. His absence will leave a hole in our hearts forever. Willy has two beloved children with his former wife, Kathy Cioffi of Fairfield, their daughter, Donna A. Cioffi of Bridgeport, and son, Jay Cioffi, who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his sister, Vicki Cioffi; his brother, Victor Cioffi; and his nephew, Frank Argonese. In addition to his daughter, Donna, survivors include his brother, Frank Cioffi and wife, Nancy of Shelton; his sister, Nancy Beardsworth and husband, Robert of Trumbull; his sister, Lisa Parziale of Bridgeport; a sister-in-law, Debbie Cioffi of Stratford; his granddaughter, Taylor Cioffi of Bethany; his longtime companion and best friend, Pat (Tisha) DelRocco and her grandchildren A.J. and Eliza; and also several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the kind, caring, compassionate doctors and nurses at St. Vincent Medical Center and the Oncology Department at Black Rock Medical Group. Friends are invited to attend the funeral Thursday December 27, 2007 at 10 a.m. DIRECTLY in St. Emery Church, 838 Kings Highway East, Fairfield with a Mass of the Christian Burial. Interment in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Avenue, Bridgeport. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donation may be made to SWIM Across the Sound, 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT 06606 or Best Friends Animal Society, 5100 Johnson Canyon Road, Kanab, UT 84741 in memory of Willy.

As Willy's neighbor, I always enjoyed our "driveway" conversations while we both took a pause from our outdoor activities. You were a great neighbor and friend, Willy, and you will be deeply missed.

Dear Willy,
I worked with you for 15 years and you were a kind soul. You took in Church (the cat) and gave him love. Church is lost without you. You will always be remembered for your hard work as well as you kind words and gentle ways.
You are with some friends now who went before you. Joyce, Rod and Isabelle. All legacies of the MacKenzie family and extended family. Miss you.
